Cam Guru's, help spec me a 383 cam!
Getting ready to drop my 383 in my car but would like to install the cam before.
The motor is as fallows:
383ci
4340 crank
Lunati Pistons
Crower rods
LPE cnc'd ls6 heads (was told 11:2:1 compression installed)
New stock lifters and rockers
Moly pushrods
No valve springs yet but it will be whatever dual springs will handle the cam
New ls6 intake and ported TB
Meziere race EWP
No headers yet but will be TSP 1 7/8 or LPP stainless 1 3/4
Car has a TH-400 with a Yank 3800 converter and Moser 9" with 4.11 gears. Lots of !weight mods and will just be driven to and from the track. No daily driving here.
If I need to change parts from this combo, id rather do it now while the motor is out.
I had a TREX before and want something a bit bigger. Also plan to spray sometime later with a 150-200 shot.
I know the ls6 intake is going to hurt me but for now it will have to do.

I would pay patric g the 25 bucks and let him spec it. he will calculate the dcr and give you the best combo.
I have went with him twice and feel he is worth the money. I am very happy with my lsl lobed 243/251 624/624 on a 110 for my 346.

I personally would go for the 248/248 cam out of those two. I'd use a different LSA though if you plan on spraying it often to bring down the overlap.
Edit: The 247/251 sounds like a newer LSL lobe cam and may be of more interest to you though considering the more aggressive ramp rates than the 248/248 xfi.

Well it depends on brand, str, efficiency etc.... That part i'll leave to the TC masters.
Basicaly one has to look at shift extentions as well, like matching stall speed 300 rpm before trq peak for best ETs. (something like that)
even that 240/244 is on the edge of big for that stall.
All in all, match your combo (LS6 intake and stall are your limiting factors here and you'll benefit more by a smaller cam that fits right in the range of both of these.)
Lobes are Comp Cam XE-R and is nitrous friendly at the powershots you mentionned.
