Gen 5 Camaro Internal Engine Tech - New Camaro owners, how was your buying experience?

For those of you out there who have bought a new Camaro, how long did you search for till you found a dealer selling at MSRP or below? Are they offering any incentives to buy at the moment and how is the inventory right now? It's time for me to buy a new car but I don't want to get raped. Just trying to get an idea of what dealers are charging/what their attitude is in general towards new camaro buyers. :corn:

Paid $1500 over sticker in June. The dealer I have used for many years wanted 5k over. I have heard some dealers wanted even more than that. I was a bit unhappy about the over sticker, but I also understand the laws of supply and demand. I did get free oil changes for life though, and being Mobil 1, I will at least earn a bit of that back. The dealer treated me with respect, but I expected that after what we paid. Bottom line is, we got the car we wanted without delay, and love it.

Two dealers I've worked with sell/order at MSRP. Don't limit yourself to local dealerships, 1-way plane tickets are dirt cheap.
Shaheen Chevrolet in Lansing, MI (ask for Ben Behnke)
Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land, TX (ask for Joe Machacek)

I think anyone TODAY can buy any Camaro at MSRP. I don't think GM has put any rebates on the car yet. I don't agree that you need to go outside your local area to find a dealer willing to sell at MSRP.
In most cases this new Camaro isn't your first Chevrolet buy. So, you have had plenty of time to establish YOURSELF with your local dealers. Where do you get your service and parts?
If I made a call I could tell you supplier GMS and dealer invoice. I don't think there was much more than 2200.00 plus hold back on our car. A good rule is 20.00 added payment per 1,000. This is a hot car. So, please tell me why you shouldn't be paying sticker for the car?

So I went to the Chevy website to build my own IFO 2SS, and theres now some ugly wing on it. Cant find a delete wing option on the 2SS, so I tried the 1SS, same deal, no delete wing option. Its ugly, looks like something off the 09 Civic Si, and you'r stuck with it? I know you can take it off easy enough but then there are holes in the trunk to deal with. To pharmboy who just bought a 1SS, did it have the wing on the back? Or is this something they are shipping now?

Jenson, that wing on the website is awful. Mine doesn't have anything like that on it at all. I will try to get some pics of it if to you if you want so you can see what it looks like. I definitely wouldn't want that on my car either.

Also, I could tell you all those prices by making a call to my dealer as well, but there are dealers across the country selling these cars for MSRP plus market value mark up of about 3000 dollars. I don't know how things work in your area but the dealers here are can only order a certain number before they need prior authorization from gm to order more. I guess that is why I say you may have to look somewhere other than locally. That applies to this area anyway

Look hard enough and you'll find dealers willing to sell under MSRP. Dealers aren't loyal to you, dont do them that favor. It's not hard to buy a car from out of state.

I work in the service dept. of my local dealer. Every Camaro we've gotten in so far has either been sold to the public at M.S.R.P., or has been wholesaled to dealers in Texas for $5-6000 over. Those Texans just keep callin us! They say they are retailing them for $8-$12K over list. How weird is that?

If they were dumb enough to pay it oh well, they didn't shop around and look for the best deal. The first dealer I went to told me, $2K over sticker, not much later I found one selling them $1500 under sticker. Pay not to be impulsive.

i was with my buddy when he ordered his car at Jim Glover Chevrolet here in Tulsa. "the best chevy dealer in tulsa"
He ordered the car in Nov of 08 (keep in mind this is his car) as a 2LT V6 in IMO with black stripes. In Jan. He went back to the dealership and request to add the 20" polished wheels to the order and they said no prob. So about the 3rd week in june we are out at my house just about to crack open a cold one and they call him. IT's In !!!!!
So we drop the beers and head up there. The car was being unloaded with 2 others ( both other cars SS models ! )and things start to go down hill.First we came to notice that they DID NOT change the order for the wheels and the gray 19"s were on the car. They back them all into the show room and start cleaning them up from the train ride. As the owners start leaving to sign paper work i stayed out in the show room to eye ball this beautiful car alittle more.
As im sitting there a DUMBASS salesman with another car buyer comes over and starts filling out paperwork on the hood of my friends BRAND FUCKING NEW CAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I fucking FREAKED OUT on this TOOL !!!!!!!! I asked him if he had another 30K desk he could move his faget ass to, or if he was going to continue to write his note on a new SOLD camaro. So after almost getting escorted off the property i sit down again and try to remain calm until he comes back from the paperwork.
Now my friend has been a mason for 8 yrs and makes very good money. He told them "hey im just going to give you a check for 30K and not deal with banks and financing. So we wait for about another 30 mins for the lady in front of us to move her SS out and as were sitting there some peolpe come up and start looking at it. NO BIG DEAL. Then the dumbass sales man says...hey just hope in and take a look around. My buddies are already seeing my turn red and go into WTF MODE!
The now owner of the car locks it real quick from the remote and tells the peolpe its Sold and they need to stop touching it. This pissed them off and caused them to leave and look for another dealership.
Its been two months now since he has even talked to anyone the dealership. They called him and told him they had NO IDEA when his 20"s would get here and that the cant order them. They will have to wait till a car gets there that has the polised wheels and if that car has been optioned for the 21" wheels they will give those take-offs to him.
WHAT A JOKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
