Default Just got an S3 TB and tune from Shaner. WOW!

I just got back from a very very very long drive (5hrs) after getting a P&P throttle body and tune from Shaner and I am beyond impressed here. I had previously had my car tuned by a fairly reputable name I won't mention and had some complaints, but nothing huge. After installing the TB I drove it a bit, felt better, significantly for just a TB. Then after tuning it a bit, and showing me the lack of effort put into my old tune (just advanced timing and added fuel at EVERY RPM, as in every RPM range +1) and holy crap! 2nd gear now pulls like 1st!!! 70 to 100 MPH takes roughly 2-3seconds! It is unreal the difference this guy made. Especially for "a senile old man" as he called himself. But I was just posting in case anyone had any questions about the TB or how the man himself does business or anything. From what I understand, not alot of people have this TB yet. Ask away!

Thanks,
Kyle

shaner has been around for awhile and lots of people with ls1's have one. A proper tune can do wonders in these cars.

What other mods do you currently have? I just got a good friend of mine to port and polish mine, does this mean I should get a tune too? Only other mod is a slp lid.

Dang, I couldn't find any information on him. Haha, nevermind then. My other mods are lid, LS6 manifold, LTs with ORY, and Borlamouth cat-back. A tune can always help regardless of mods, but if I were you, I would at least get some longtubes before getting it tuned. Do you have an LS6 manifold? Also, you should probably remove your EGR and AIR, makes installing headers a bit easier.

If you're going to P&P your TB or have it done, just get Shaners. Not saying that prettiness makes it faster, but this guy polished it so intensely I has a mirror finish, smooth as glass and HUGE. Such a fantastic value.

No - the OP drove to Shaner to have him tune it in person which corrected the original sloppy mail order tune he had in there. You won't notice a big difference going to a p/p TB but going from a sub-par tune to a good one will make a big difference.

u dont want to get in contact with this guy. my friend had his car tuned buy him and it didnt go well, because shaner doesn't use a y band to tune. we dyno'd his car na and the air fuel was 14 to 1 and on a 75 dry shot it went of the charts 19 to 1.

I haven't used shaner for tuning but the "y" band is actually a "wide-band" sensor that outputs a 0-5V signal which is more accurate than the stock sensor. At a dyno it will read around 0.5 points high on most dynos since they're sticking the sensor up the tailpipe vs using an O2 bung near the header for tuning. That's assuming he used a front bung when he did the tuning. Anyways, 13.5:1 would still be a little high. Don't know what to tell you on the dry shot. You're relying on the MAF to sense the ***-load of O2 that you're injecting into the motor with the NOS which should then (through the PCM) command the injectors to spray more fuel. Could be a few different issues to make it go crazy lean like that. This is why wet kits are generally safer.
