Kumho Escta ASX'x vs. Sumitomo HTR+

Kumho Escta ASX'x vs. Sumitomo HTR+ I'm looking to pick up a good set of all-season tire and I think it's coming down to these two. Which one would you guys run and why. The car will be driven through this upcoming Michigan winter but I have another ride when there is alot of snow. But for Rain, Light snow and something I can can still go WOT and not die which one is better? Tire rack has them rated pretty closely. And also I know summer tires aren't meant to been driven threw the winter but if they don't see snow which ones could I go with without them getting ruined by the cold? Because I think the most important factor will be rain/slush not snow.

I'm a big fan of Kumho tires performace for price. I had a set of the ASX's on my Camaro, I liked them so much, I bought a set for my G/F's Grand AM and she loves them, so much in fact she convinced my Mother to get a set for her car.

A third option... When I lived in Dearborn Heights, I got a second set of four 16's and put on some Dunlop Snow and Ice tires from Discount Tire (on Telegraph) - they stick much better than any "all season" tire.

Kuhmo asx tires are really good tires for the money.That's what I have on my t/a.
I would go with a set of those if I were you.You can't go wrong with them.

If you are going to be driving it through the snow a lot I wouldnt really recommend ASX's or any all seasons. I was using ASX's on my car in Wisconsin before I moved out to California, traction was OK in light snow but it was super easy to spin the tires if you werent paying attention. IMO you would be better off getting a set of 16's and run dedicated snow tires on them, I have used Bridgestone BLIZZAK's before and it was a night and day difference between those and "all seasons".
The ASX's are a great tire though, I've used the same set of ASX's on three sets of rims on the SS and they have worn very well and performed well.
Sumitomo's....had a set of those before when I was running 315's on the back and never again..you really do get what you pay for

I ran the ASX's on all fours and had no complaints, but I don't drive the car in the winter. I still run them on the front and have had them on for 4 years. The only reason I switched rears was to run 255's. I ran a set of Winterforce tires on my old Town Car and for the money they went through everything Michigan winters had to throw at them.
