Default 450-550 hp

Hi guys

Im trying to get about 450-550 hp closer to 550. Just wanted to see if anybody could recommend me of what kind of mods I should do for my trans am 98. So far all it has is exhust no cats and headers.

By the way not looking to get nitros.

Any advice would be nice. I been told to put a cam and heads plus manifold but what is the perfect combo?

thank you

trickflow heads and a decent sized cam along with a FAST manifold will net you 450+...assuming you have a good tuner, and are an m6 with stock rear

honestly, nitrous or some type of forced induction is the only way. Unless you want to build a whole new motor.
if your looking at crank, a good H/C/I/E combo will do the trick.

if you want 500+rwhp on a stock cubed ls1 your only going to get it FI..

your question is so broad its not even funny.. do some research... once you have a general idea of what you want/talking about.. THEN come ask some questions..

H/C/i will get you about 450-500. The only way to do 550 is to build with bigger cubes. to get 550 to the wheels your going to need lots of money or lots of cubes. a 427 ls3 with cnc ported heads and a fast intake will put you about there. But 550 is pretty tough even with a 408.

You can achieve 450 @ the wheels pretty easily, even 475. 500whp is really pushing it with an all motor 346 c.i. Instead of focusing on how much horsepower you want, give a time you would like to achieve and people will be able to help you much more. There are people with 500 whp that run high 10's, then there are people with 440-460 whp running mid 10's with A/C etc...

^^^ like above. NA and 500-505whp is possible but you need a "REALLY" good tuner. If you are looking for over that, FI, N2O, or Stoker for sure. I have a mild 408 and look at my sig. 450-470 is more realistic with the stock 346. It also depends on what your goals are. Are you looking for something that is quick from a roll or a dig. With 460+whp, a majority of that is topend power from a big cam. Which can also be beat by a good mild head/cam combo that makes 420-440whp. There are alot of choices bro To maximize your setup on exactly what you want, get a set of TFSs, supporting bolt ons, and a custom ground cam.

thanks for the answers guys.

Im not really sure on exactly how i want my setup, but i figured this would point me in the right direction. I just wanted to see if its even possible with a stock ls1 with the setup that i had in mind.

thanks.
