Question Changing starter on 2002 Camaro LS1 350

Hi all,

I have a 2002 Camaro (350 LS1) and my starter went out. I'm ready to change it but have a question:

My Haines manual says I need to remove the exhaust on the passenger side to get the starter out. Is this REALLY necessary? I can see it's close as everything else on this car, but it looks possible.

Really appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

No need to remove that.

Disconnect the battery, take out the plastic dust guard thats held to the bell housing w/ a 10mm, 2 starter bolts are 13mm or 15mm (i've seen cars with diff sizes), unbolt and let it hang while you disconnect the harness. Reverse procedure, done.

I stroked my 350 to 408 and installed a 7/8 cam.

Talking Thanks for the advice, as well as the education!

Got the new starter in last night. Saved me time not removing the exhaust.

THANKS AGAIN ALL!
