Critique my setup that I'm putting together
I have a 98 C5 a4 and I'm in the process of buying parts for a H/C swap. I'd like to know if this will be a good setup.
Patriot 5.3 heads
Technical Specs:
Combustion Chamber: 67cc
Intake Runner: 220cc
Exhaust Runner: 67cc
Intake Valve: 2.02"
Exhaust Valve: 1.57"
Max. Valve Spring Lift: 0.650"
Spring Pressure Closed: 135 lbs. @ 1.800"
Spring Pressure Open: 375 lbs. @ 1.090"
Retainer Material: Titanium
Valve Seal Material: Viton
Valve Guide Material: Manganese Bronze
Valve Job: 5-angle
Street sweeper cam
Specs: 228*-232*-111*-.612"-.600"
Yank SS3600 stall converter.
LS6 Oil pump (non ported)
LS2 single timing chain with new sprocket.
OBX long tubes w/out cats.
LS6 intake
Questions:
New lifters (not sure on brand). Does it matter??
Does the heads and cam compliment each other?
Should I replace the lifter tray?
What size pushrods? can I reuse what I have?
Are the stock rockers ok?
I'm very new to the internals of the LSX motors so that's why I have all the noob questions.

Sounds like a good strong combo, your gonna need new valve covers tho the 98's had perimeter valve covers, and your new heads should be center bolt. The factory pushrods are junk, best bet is to use a pushrod length checker. If the heads have been milled and if your gonna run thinner or thicker gaskets it will change the length you need. The stock rockers are fine they will be your best bet. I'd go with LS7 lifters since your pulling the heads, also I'd replace the lifter trays too, just cause your in there. Good luck with your setup man.

Thanks for your response.
Question about this
"your gonna need new valve covers tho the 98's had perimeter valve covers, and your new heads should be center bolt."
I have no idea what you mean by center bolts....are you saying that I need to buy valve covers what have center bolts?
Can you recommend valve covers?
Does it matter on the thickness of the head gasket?
can you recommend lifter tray? Can I just find the cheapest one and go with it?

97-98 valve covers used a perimeter valve covers. 99+ used a center bolt valve cover, look at the description where your buying the heads from they usually tell you if it's a center bolt or perimeter valve cover, most aftermarket heads run the center bolts. And yea the thickness of the head gasket does matter. Again talk to the shop that your buying the parts from they should know what size to run.

Will my valve cover...cover still fit with the aftermarket heads? It's the black plastic piece that has the corvette lettering in red.
I'm not buying the heads from a shop. I'm piecing everything together myself.
I'll do some research on the gasket.
I'm not 100% sure if i'm getting the heads, so do you think stock 243 heads w/sodium valves and aftermarket springs (probably PAC) be a good choice for the cam?

Thanks for your comment. The heads aren't mine just yet. As I mentioned in my previous post; what do you think about that cam with some 243 heads w/sodium valves and aftermarket springs? Decent combo?

Bump
Can I get some more opinions in the 5.3 Heads and the cam?? I'm really new to the internals of the LSX motors. I found "I think" a decent deal on the heads and I just want to make sure before I pull the trigger.
