My clutch seems to squeal (sounds like metal stretching in a sci-fi movie ) when I slowly take off in first gear upon a sort of feather engagement. Anybody else get this?
I have a Clutchmasters Stg. III assembly with a Centerforce DFX disc (puck design) and aluminum flywheel.

yea it's really weird. I think I remember someone telling me once if I do like a 5k dump and burn off the surface really good it should be smooth again and not make the sound anymore. I do sort of baby the car a lot so I'm wondering if that could be the cause...?

Glazing is common on ceramic based materials, it is usually caused by excessive slipping as someone has already pointed out.
The best thing to do is drive the car hard through the first three gears a couple of times, this will "knock" off the glazing and reduce the noise.

hum you have a clutchmasters? i have one too i got about a year ago i dont drive the car mutch. shortly after i got it it started making some noise too. im not entirely sure its glazed though im kinda thinking it might be the throw out bearing they supplied with it did you use there throw out bearing? cuz everyone says the solution is to "run it hard threw 3rd" and what not... i do that all the time and it would still squeek coming off a stop light and stuff like that.

I get the same squeal on my monster stage 3 with chromoly flywheel. Unless I rev it up to like 2k then go it will squeal. Not really made to be slipped. I do feel badass having to rev to go though.

2-3 (20-30miles) times a week maybe... if that...
when you say "drive it hard throught the first the gears"... are you saying do a clutch dump at take off, or feather the **** out of it while into the throttle full bore...?
I love the clutchmasters, unfortunately their original disc only lasted about 18k miles, which is why I stuck a centerforce dfx disc in there. They gave me a better price then clutchmasters would when I needed a replacement. As far as the throw out bearing goes, I was at clutchmaster shop (they are local to me) and asked them about that. They actually recommended a throwout "bushing" instead of a bearing. And gave me one of those... to be honest, I never had any sqealing at that point. I now am back to the bearing as my last shop put one of those in there instead. Wish they would have put the bushing back in there though... I just didn't know at the time of the install...

^^^^ So you just threw in a different disc huh? not a bad idea. i switched to the cluthmasters after i ran a zoom kevlar that lasted 2000 miles before completely not holding at all... waste of 900 dollars. Im satisfied with the Clutchmasters, im not with my car right now cuz im still sitting in iraq but the squeal mine was making sounded like the throw out bearing more than anything and i just cant see how reving it up and dumping it would burn off any glaze... but hey i dont know it all we will see when i get home and give it another throw out bearing.

My Monster level 3 has done this most of the time that I have had it, usually worse when it's cold outside. I drive the **** out of it, and have done several 2nd gear burnouts resulting in block long black marks, and my wife wanting to kick my *** for being on my 5th set of tires in the year and a half that I have owned the car. The clutch still grabs hard, and has never slipped on me or smelled burned. I can also take off from a stop on an incline with no throttle at all just by slipping the clutch out...
So, I just don't worry about it.

My SPEC 3 does that when it's cold(the first few times taking off)after it warms up a bit it dosn't make any noise. I never realy dump the clutch, still running a 7.5 10 bolt rear...I'm on the third one now but have a spare so this one isn't gonna last long once the car is back on the road.
