ok so im a little overdue on my oil change woops!...
so im cleaning the inside of my car today and at that time i completely lost track of my scheduled oil change. it seems im about 2500-3000 miles overdue from the last one. is my engine goin to breakdown after 1 missed oil change?
its a 1998 z28 with 133,000 miles on the dot, i was suppose to change it around 130,000....is that bad? the car has always used synthetic oils, now ive been hearing about all brands of oils that help clean out the engine. for example on tv i always see castrol or penzoil claiming that their oil cleans out 15% or so..is this true? and with 133,000 miles on the engine is there specific brand of oil that i should use? id appreciate your recommendations
also and sorry if im dragging this post on, with 133k and it being a 98 year is there anything else i should change or replace after so many years/ miles...honestly the only thing ive changed maintenance wise is oil, battery and windshield fluid...would replacing the oil pump or fuel pump etc help?

Its not good if you're trying to squeeze the longest life possible out of an engine thats for sure, but just go get an oil change done.

If the trans fluid is dark brown and smells burnt, then it should be changed. Coolant, open your radiator and take a look. If its clean, your fine. Just check the level in the reservoir. Brake fluid, just check the level in the reservoir.
As for oil, you are going to start a war here. lol

Brake fluid, absolutely change it. It soaks up water from the air like a sponge, which will lead to corrosion.
Coolant should be replace every 5 yrs or 50k.

Is your car an automatic? If so, don't even think about changing the transmission fluid with that many miles; unless you know for certain you've flushed it and changed the filter every 30k miles. You'll regret it if you do, just keep the fluid topped off.

Alot of people will probably reply saying don't switch to synthetic because it will cause oil leaks. I switched to synthetic a long time ago and no leaks at all so far on my high mileage car.

+1 on the Lucas additives being crap. I wouldnt put them in anything.
+1 on the Pennzoil Platinum. Lots of people getting really positive used oil analysis with that stuff, as good or better than Mobil. Valvoline Synpower is supposed to be great bang for buck too. I've personally had alot of luck using the Valvoline Maxlife, which is a synthetic blend, in my high mileage car(s); but a "full" synthetic would offer the best protection. I'd go for 10/30 for the weight.

I used mobil, pennzoil and purple... I keep going with pennzoil synthetic because it costs less...
As long as you keep the level good, not that much of a deal...
Air filter too, check out your power steering pump if theres any brownish liquid in it... flushing the tranny is good(it did eliminate tough shifting on my T56).
You could flush the clutch fluid too( ranger method ), wont hurt..
