Default How do you like your ABS delete?

I've read a bunch of posts on how to delete the ABS, but not very many on how it has effected the car afterwards.

How do you like the feel of the brakes now? Did it help or hurt your stopping distances? Would you do it again?

I still have ABS in my WS.6. With that said I pulled the ABS fuse just for fun in my 1999 K3500 Dually. I hated it, every time I stopped the brakes would lock up. I eventually got used to it but I still didn't like it.

I'm interested in hearing what car guys have to say about this.

Yeah, I wonder if it's worth losing the weight up front.

Losing the ABS was transparent to me - didn't even notice it was gone. BUT...my car is NOT a daily driver, and only comes out in nice weather (i.e. no water on the roads). If it was still my daily driver, I would have left it in place. I can control my own driving, but I can't control the retards that try and pull out in front of me.

I lost my ABS when I changed rear-ends. Never really had to lock up the brakes with it and have not had to without it so I don't know the difference. It's not my DD but it does stop really well. Have drove it for 2 years without it and no problems.

Cars stopped for years without ABS. So it can be absolutely transparent.

But realize, that the ABS module also acted as your brake bias as well. So, installing a brake proportioning valve to keep your rear tires from locking up before the fronts is vital.

A few hard stops on a wet pavement, a half turn of bias between each will get it adjusted and you should be good to go.

Yep...first car I ever drove didn't have it, and I survived.

I still haven't properly adjusted my proportioning valve, but it is on the list of things to do.

For me it was a no brainer - 295/35/18 front tire , 305/45/18 rear - the factory abs didnt work for crap with that setup nor with my SSBC tri piston brake kit up front. Love the way the brakes work - 60 to 0 in 110 or less feet.

I have the sjm kit.....didnt notice any difference without the abs under normal braking. I like the added prop. valve to fiddle with the rear bias. Also the built in line lock is very fun.

I thought it would be a huge deal, but I really can't say that I noticed much of a difference.

For those who have it, try braking hard under a turn and see what happens, my ABS prevents me from braking at all under a turn sometimes, it pisses me off.
