What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to get the pulley off the alternator?

you need high speed, like an air ratchet or impact gun. If you use an impact gun you can dont need the belt on, problem is you probably dont have room. Air ratchet will get it done on the car but the belt needs to be tight. otherwise you could probably hold it with a strap wrench or use a belt you wouldnt mind screwing up, hold it tight, hit it with the air ratchet. Good luck using hand tools.

The only easy way is to use an impact. If you don't have one take it to a shop and they would hopefully loosen it for you for no cost. If you choose to do this take 5 bucks and give it to the mechanic. We have people come ask for this kind of **** all the time and they don't tip you so then you don't want to do it next time.

As far as hand tools good luck but about the only way I see it is if you have a strap wench and then it still might be rather hard.

your probably going to end up taknig the alternater off the car and hitting it with an impact gun. its a pain in the *** but its about the only way i see doing it unless you get lucky with a strap wrench.

A lot of auto part stores have electric impact guns that they use to swap pulleys on alternators they sell. should be able to get them to swap it for ya for free. Used to do it all the time when I used to work for Advance Auto.
