Default 500hp clutch for under 500 $... what'er my options

i wanted to do the ls7 clutch kit for my m6 02 trans but dont really feel like dropping 3/4ths a paycheck to just a clutch. what are my options instead of a ls7 kit but still under 500 dollars. keep in mind it will be a daily driver but will see the strip just about every weekend

If you want a clutch that will last with that kind of power, you are going to spend more than $500. Just break down and buy a good clutch - you won't regret it, and your wallet will heal eventually. Otherwise you will be paying to replace it in short order, and it will cost you more in the long run. I reccomend a Monster, you will not find any better.

It'll be hard pressed to find a good complete clutch kit for that price that will hold that power. Your best bet would be a Spec pressure plate and disc, get the flywheel resurfaced, replace hydraulics and call it a day.

Of course, I'm recommending that on a $500 budget, if it were me I'd buy a Monster... but I'm a bit biased.

I don't think 500hp, budget and clutch should be used in the same sentence.

Why spend all the money to get that much power but no money to actually get it to the tires?

If you can't afford to do it right once, you can't afford to do it twice. IMO.

very true and thats what my modo is but im just seein whats out there so i couldnt kick myself for paying out the ***. but i quickly realized after an aluminum flywheel and new internals, its already out the *** lol
i have someone on here offering his spec stage 3 to me but im iffy to buy it, i like new but i also upgrade for the same price of a stage 1, it has 400 miles on it and he is selling it because he sold the TA and took it out before he got rid of it so i would like to get it but there is still the question of if im getting pulled or its legit.
but also i need to replace the throw out barring and pilot barring ontop of the new flywheel: could i buy those from spec without buying the clutch? anything else i should replace to be sure i dont ruin this one?

IMO just to be on the safe side, I think you should save up for the clutch rather than getting something that will be more of a bandaid solution (not in reference to any clutch brands). If you're going to spend money, spend it right the first time.

I have a spec stage 3 with their matching flywheel on my bench with about 7k miles. I swapped for a twin disc setup and I'd be willing to help ya out.

There are certainly good "used" parts out there. But remember, they are used and as such you need to check them out thuroughly. I suggest measureing the disc thickness, checking the plate and flywheel for flatness and sending me pics of the parts so I can help you assess the state of the parts. It always better to be safe than sorry!
