Default improving interior lighting

i want to improve the lighting in my car. i found this map light fixture at pullapart. it came out of a grand prix. it was just an idea that came to me when i saw it, so i grabbed it for cheap.
the idea was to mount it on the headliner where that center part comes down. i mean theres nothing up there why not use it. im not sure if it will fit right.
what exactly is behind that part of the headliner?
but if it works i think it will improve my lighting alot. i can replace the bulbs with some brighter festoon led bulbs.

anybody have some pics of custom lighting?

I was going to say LED the mirror and brake light. Where exactly are you planning on mounting this? If you take a picture I can tell you what is underneath it. I have a Camaro parts car that I am stripping down that I've already taken all of the interior out of.

somewhere along this center part. how much room is under it?

this light fixture looks too big as you can see in the 2nd pic. its a little too wide. although i could make a custom one out of carbon fiber.

another idea i had was to make the lights totally flush with the ceiling. only the lenses showing.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a whole lot of room under there. I will take a picture for you when I get home.

Good luck... There isn't a whole lot of room.
