Default noise with a Dana 60 "herd any?"

Has anyone had a problem with gear noise with a Dana 60 for a f-body. I have read there is a fair amount of 12 bolts and 9" that have the noise brand new. Is it always the gears? or is there a problem with the design?

No issues with mine...2 years of hard use and 3 differing gearsets in it. Great piece IMHO.

Exact same setup here, I have a little gear whine at about 60mph. I hardly notice it and its way quieter than my old ten bolt for sure, that thing drove me crazy.

I have one with very little gear whine (4.10s with trutrac) my 10 bolt with 410's had more noise.

NOW a buddy of mine has one 3.73's trutrac 635rwhp/545tq and it whines like no other around the 40-50mph range and 60-70 range..... I've never heard ANY Rear end whine so bad! So his would be the only exception to the quite rule.

Mine has had a whine since it was brand new. Had Billingsley and a Strange Tech look at it and checked everything out, and couldn't find anything wrong. Tried two different rear covers and fluid additive from Strange, neither really helped. Noise is around 40-50mph, nowhere else. 4:10's w/Tru-Trac, 35 spline axles. Have been thinking about going with a lightweight spool.

Thats where my noise occurs as well. I would love to go with a spool if I could keep my ABS.

Does your whine on decel?
