Western Members - I got Busted Street Racing and almost went to jail and got a big fat TICKET.

Hey all:

First: I rarely ever, ever race on the street.

Well some of you may have heard but I got caught street racing on Saturday night. We had our IE meet and went on a cruz to the bowling alley. I was looking to have some fun with Reid since I was by myself. So I opened both Bottles, Turned on the Heaters and had the Switch all ready for some fun.

Ok this is what happened: There was 8 of us and I was towards the back. I was behind a truck and he finally turned and i was a little ways back and saw everyone taking off from the light. So I decide to hit it and also had the little switch on :D. My car fish tailed back and forth for a few seconds then hooked and was gaining ground quick. Well they all started to slow down and so did I.

Within seconds I see a car come up quick and get on my ass. Saw the shotgun in my rear view mirrior and new I am getting pulled over. Sure enough he lights me up. Comes up to the window and tells me he saw me street racing and getting sideways. Asked for all the paper work. Came back a few minutes later and told me he could take my car for 30 days and arrest me right now. Went back to his car and pulled out the ticket book.

After he gave me the ticket he then told me he loved my Vette and he would hate to see me wreak it for doing something dumb.

First time I ever got lucky like that. But then again I dont play much like I use to years ago.

There are some good cops out there, lucky lucky.

We all know your meeting up with him on his day off to let him do a few 0-150 runs in your vette! :devil:

As I have said before cops like vettes. I have zero tickets in any of my vettes in the last 8 years of owning them.

Anytime I drive an import I end up with a ticket.
Lexus= Ticket
Maxima = Ticket

But I have either been let off with a warning in my vette or get a thumb up :secret2:

Yeah man you got lucky. My vette is slammed and has heads and cam and the only ticket Ive gotten in it was for going over a double yellow. Most cops dont even look over, dont know why.

Glad to see you got off clean.. I actually got pulled over about 2 weeks ago cause an old guy wanted to see what my car had (told me at the light it sounded good but couldn't back it up).. Kicked it till about 60 (45 zone) and fishtailed the entire way... Cop was sitting a few cars back at the light and I didn't see him..
Luckily he lives down the road AND I went to school with him along with being real good friends with his best friend.. :lol:
Told me to quit being a dumbass and get home for the night.. :D

I third that. Some cops are cool a buddy of mine is Riverside County Sheriff and he is cool as hell and has a 500rwhp C5! Another friend is LAPD! Just like everything there are some cool people out there and Ken got lucky with a good one that appreciated a bunch of pumped up muscle cars having a little fun and let him off easy!

Go buy a LOTTO ticket now. I bet if you were not in the Vette he would have thrown the book at you.

I agree, in the camaro and on the R6 i never got a ticket. Its Bright orange and loud as hell, just get the old, "you need to slow down and drive safe."

But when i had a Talon TSi AWD (bought it to make it a track car) and i got pulled over merging onto the freeway still doing under the speed limit and also go sited for following too closely because when the people saw the flashing lights they slowed down and we all bunched up. Got a ticket for 10 over and following too closely. Part of the reason i sold it shortly after.


The V is great too cuz it never gets looked at twice. Ive braked HARD through a couple of speed traps when i would have SWORN i was going to get pulled over.

I gotta say, now that I think about it... EVERYTIME i've been pulled over in the TA I've gotten a ticket...

I've got a couple of cop friends... but I still hate cops. My cop friends I like as people and think they are totally cool. But the regular traffic cops I think are lower than low... there is a difference between law enforcement and traffic cops... they need to get a real job.

Awesome story, I had my own run in, went almost the exact same way. Ticket was never turned in. He made sure he scared me pretty good before letting me go though, then eased up and started talking about how he used to be the same way.

Some officers are definitely good guys, I owe him a beer for sure.

I went up there for my graduation n took my vette, and my buddy met up with me to go to my grad and he's got 6xxhp in his. Anyway, we were dicking around in traffic. I only got up to about 95. We weren't racing, whats the point, it's like taking a smart car up against a stock f body. We were leapfrogging in the left lanes. once we got to the next town, they stopped us and arrested us saying we were doing 145 on the highway (at 4pm on a major highway), arrested us and impounded our cars. I spent the night, and my friend that plus the following. My gf posted my $5,000 bail, and her friend did mine the following day. They tried to say that our cars were modified for street racing...all i had was exhaust, cold air intake, brakes n rotors. At the scene, they lifted up his hood to reveal his newly installed supercharger. Anyway to make a long story short, they kept the cars for 6 months, we had to go up there in december for court for them to decide what they wanted to do. They were trying to take the cars from us to auction them off, and put us in jail for a month. They were either going to do that or take the cars and crush them. So they couldnt find an order keeping the cars, so they released them to us saying we're not allowed in/ or to drive in canada for 3 years, about $3k in fines, and we had to tell them where we were staying each time we were there. So the following day we had to find friends to drive our cars down to the border, which we got to the border at 9pm. We then had to drive all the way down to delaware. We drove through ny with no problem, and then through a blizzard in pa. We got stranded at a closed down covered gas station somewhere in mid pa. At like 5am we got back out on the highway that hadnt really been plowed, drove till 7 with my friend on fumes. we found a gas station and hotel. got back up at 9am, and then at 10am the weather had lightened up and roads were clear, so we drove 4 more hours to get home. This is the diet coke version. The following morning I drove to florida, then the next day to tx, then the next back to az. Made the front page of the papers up in canada and everything. it was nuts
