D1-SC strange noise...
My blower has been making a weird noise lately. When I start the car it whines, but intermittently, almost like a squeaky pulley. When it warms up it sounds fine, any ideas of what this could be? I talked to ProCharger about having to have significant tension on the blower to stop slip and they said the bearings can take it no problem, but I'm a little concerned, thoughts?

Hmm, well just talked to ProCharger, they said if it's a bearing, it will be pretty much gone quickly. This has been going on for a month and has been to the track twice and probably had 10-20 WOT pulls on the dyno/street. They suggested an idler pulley bearing, pulling that off tonight and checking it out, could be possible.
Chalk one worthless thread up for me.

Well the idler seems a little stiff, if I spun it with my finger it will spin about 1 - 1 1/2 revolutions. Doesn't seem right to me, thoughts? Also, I did found out that wasn't the sole squeak. Took the blower off and started the car, same thing, I have a culprit somewhere.

They are sealed bearings so they wont just free spin, if it feels gritty or rough then they are bad. They are just GM A/C compressor bearings and easy to get and change.
Lot of other pulleys to squeak, take the main belt off and try it for a bit to make sure its from the front, it wont hurt to run it without the belt for a minute or so if the engine is cool.

Interesting I've got an F1A (fbody) and the idler pulley has been acting up every since I changed the belt last week. It ate the new belt at the track swaped it again with less tension and made a 3 passes at the track 4 WOT pulls at the dyno and then the idler failed. I haven't seen it yet but I from what I heard it was fairly dramatic and actually stalled the engine smoke and rubber everywhere.
I'm assuming the idler pulley seized up I had been tightening the **** out of it lately. I was told the same thing as you regarding tension worst you'll do is f the belt up unless you happen to bend the idler pulley . I ordered a whole new idler pulley assembly from procharger plus one of the goodyear belts from summit (not suppose to stretch as much). I believe I caused this when I tightened the belt the weak link is the idler pulley I think it gets bent.
