Default detail- to hell and back with a 98 Black Trans Am

For starters , this is thee worst car Ive ever gotten . Ive been spoiled with paint corrections on cars in much better shape . The paint on this car felt like sandpaper , and looked like it was washed down with a 3m pad . The owners got the car last week and got a killer deal because the piant was so bad . 1/2 way into this I wanted to punch the prior owner in the mouth . The TA only has 52K miles , not sure how people let a car go that bad , lol .

Process .
Meguires gold carwash ( 2 bucket method )
dragonfire microfibers
various einszett boar hair brushes

Clay:
Meguires medium ( blue bar)
soapy water as a clay solution

M105 via LC purple foam wool pad
M105 via LC orange
M205 via Meguires soft buff 2.0 pad
Makita 9227 rotary
Blackfire wet diamond sealant
Zaino AIO in door shuts and engine bay surfaces
Megs APC+ to clean engine bay
Zaino Z6 between polish coats and after sealant

Misc:
stoner invisible glass
Dragonfiber microfibers

Wheels:
Adams metal polish on the hoops
Swissvax on the centers

Heres the mess as it came

Heres some in process . I was lazy taking pics at it was dark when I finished . I was a lil po'ed I didnt get to get any GOOD pics of the car finished . Im having them bring the car back later in the week to good outdoor pics . neways ...

The hood had unfixable damage all over . I had to settle with what I could get . Im used to getting ALL the swirls out and Im a perfectionist , so this ticked me off I couldnt get this one perfect .

Same goes for the front bumper . It looked sand blasted , lots of chips and pits . I was amazed I got what I got out of it . Outside in the sun it will look great .

The sides of the car were much easier to work with . I wanted kill myself after doing the front clip lolz .

took the spoiler off to get every aspect of the decklid and underneath the spoiler .

This car looks hideous without a spoiler . This compunded and polished , no sealant .

Engine bay came out sweet . I do believe this is the stockest LS1 f-body Ive ever seen . lol .

Here the only finished shot I have . I gave up , I couldnt get nemore pics worth taking . Sucks , have to wait till they bring the car to me later in the week for good light pics . One more thing , the wheels were junk . The hoop is uncleared brushed aluminum and it was pitted to all hell . I didnt have the proper tool to bring the finish back here at home , nor did I wanna mess with removing the fake (plastic ) bolts around the entire rim for access . POS **** wheel , got em the best I could .

Looks like that car was lucky to have a change in ownership! You did great! The car isn't perfect but we all know its not from lack of ability or trying on your part! You can only work with what you got, unless you decide to open a paint booth! Cant polish what just isn't there!

The rims were Ruff , not sure of the model # . If they were taken car of from day one they would prolly be alright . I just havent seen to many wheels with uncleared **machined** hoops . The brushed I just used to clean cracks for the car wash . I tape off all emblems and cracks so I dont have much residue to remove after the detail . The spoiler was easy . 8 bolts , remove , simple as that . You do gotta remove the plastic panel on the hatch underside .

Thanks for the compliments .

I thoght you were detailing a T/A, not a Ford **** Probe

j/k

good job man want to do mine ? Ironically, you aren't that far from me (70 mi maybe)

I bet my 127k mile car's paint is in a lot better shape than that one was pre detail since i try to keep mine up. it feels good and looks pretty good but in the sun you can see some swirls.

and in the sun
