Default Stock at idle, but loud at throttle

I am looking to get headers, xpipe, and a cam.

I've seen a lot of videos of people's vettes after exhaust mods and their idling sounds obnoxious.

Do any of you know what I can get that will keep my car sounding reasonably stock until I actually press on the gas?

I was told a while back that it doesnt matter what brand/model as long as I keep stock mufflers the idling will be relatively stock sounding. How true is this?

for us C5 guys the Z06 titanium catback is the best of quiet idle/low rpm with some bark at WOT - especially with long tube headers and no cats. A cheaper option than a new catback system would be to install some electric cut outs. Keep your car sounding stock, but let you open it up for some fun.

Yep, I was looking into some QTP cutouts. Waiting for their email response.

LT's to ORX to stock Ti mufflers. With my H/C it sounds pretty good at WOT and tame at idle.

Here's another vote for the Ti. I have had them on my car for years now with long tubes and high flow cats and I love the sound. As a bonus you get no resonance.

aaaaaaaaand +1 for the Ti

rode in a car recently with dynatechs and a Ti and the tone was superb. it was muscular yet a tad bit exotic. very snappy and sharp. had that tuned bark when it crossed around 2800 rpms or so like alot of the mustangs do that sound so good with the X pipes.

im about to throw headers on mine and im keepin the Ti, im gonna add some cutouts too tho for cuttin up

oh yea.. i failed to mention i build custom mandrel bent exhausts for hot rods of all kinds lol. in my experience, for power, the quiet idle, and the loud WOT scream, magnaflow has satisfied all of those the best over all.

another favorite in the same category is the hooker maxflow, but i dont think your going to get a set of those in your vette.. they are by far the best muffler for the quietest idle and the loudest WOT. the tone is incredible.

here's a stang i had in highschool. that was about the 5th exhaust i ever built. long tubes, prochamber, and hooker maxflows. you can hear for yourself it sounded like a sprint car. i got constant attention over it by everyone except the cops bc it wasnt loud when i didnt want it to be.
