YTP 4000+ vs. Vig 3600 Multidisc
I have a Vigi 3200 stall now and want to upgrade to a better converter that will be more efficient, 60" better, and still be okay to drive on the street.
I don't know what to get? I can have my converter restalled and made a multidisc or I can sell it and get a Yank, but which one?
I drive the car on nice days only and can handle some looseness due to my 3.73 gears. What would you guys recommend to a bolt on car with drag suspension NA. I just want to get into mid 11s on boltons.
HELP

The YTP series are great converters, if you are setting to go mid 11s bolt on I would suggest a PT4400. Its a great built converter and very good all around. Good Luck

If I can pull it off, I'll go with the Yank. If it's rough, then I might just have my 3200 bumped to a 3800 multidisc.

If I already had a PI Vig 3200 with a free stall change I would get it restalled to a 3600 multi-disc with a #7 pump, it would actually stall up at about 4200 RPM and be way cheaper than buying a new yank.

Here is a small comparision of track numers.
Vigi 3200 mid-low 1.7 60's 12.20's at best
vigi 3600 mid-high 1.5 60's 11.70's at best neg 1500 DA
TCS 4200 mid-high 1.5 60's 11.85 at best around 1000DA
YTP 4400 mid-low 1.5 60's 11.65 so far with 1200 DA and alot more weight due to thunder shootout and scales seemed to read LOW. With Drag Radials!
Will be going to track Sunday, should have alot better results!

P.S. If i did it all over again with the time and money involved, I would have just listened to everyone else and bought the YANK the first time around. I wanted to try a few different things first, but since i do my own installs it is just alot of time invested and the only money is the prices of the converters. I love the YANK and would not go back to any other converters.

CamaroCain,
I had a Vig 3200 and my best 60' was a 1.584 with the average being 1.600. I was going to go with a Yank PT4000, I spoke Mike @ Yank and let him he talk me into an SS3800, so far my best 60' with it is a 1.625. I really wish I had of stuck to my guns and gotten the PT4000. I haven't seen anybody get really good 60' times with the SS3800 yet.

So by going to a TP4400, would I have to get a preped trans too? Would I have to run a better trans with a more aggressive converter like that? Thanks for all the feedback guys, I really want to do this right this time. Oh, what STR are you guys running on your TP4000-4400? What do you think I can hook on DRs? Thanks.

Thats what I'm sayin.. at 40 i get sidewaays, 50 spin badly, 60 spin a little bit, above 70 or so is when I'll dead hook when I punch it.
Keep in mind though My car is REALLY light. Street trim with me is about 3050lbs.
With a TP4400 you'll need a GOOD tire at the track to hook the car.
I would highly recomend a trans cooler.
On DR's i think you could hook 1.6's with the 4400.
A "prepped" trans is always a good idea when racing a high powered A4 f-body.. Sooner or later the stock one will fail. It can only take so many WOT 2-3 and 3-4 shifts... even a prepped tranny won't last forever.

Is the YPT4400 a good vertor for Nitrous use as well? Now I am running a Yank3000, its alright, best 60' was a series of 1.52- 1.54 for a total of two different race nights, on a 26x8.5x15 ET Drag. I think the convertor, among other things is holding me back. I am now planning on hitting a 200-220hp shot off the line so need a convertor to match!
Thanks
Charlie

Well, I have the NXL Dp kit, and want to run the 220jets, and my friends run anywhere from 175 to 200 wet. All have 3.23 gears, and from a TR224 cam to mine being a TSP 231/237.

Ive had a Vig 3600 Multidisc in my car. It is not like the other vig converters that stall higher than the listed stall speed. My 3600 is a real 3600.It probly has something to do with the mutidisc part. I just sent it back to get it raised to 4200 because it was to tight for my setup. I dont have personal experience with the ytp but I have friends that have them and wouldnt trade them for anything. Plus they 60ft and mph better than most others. I hope that helps

So how different will the YTP4400 than my 3200 Vigilante driving around town. How much looser will it be? Are the manners okay? I just want to be sure that this converter is the right one for me. Also, what STR are you guys running with the TPs?
