Exhaust set up ??
Hey guys, just this passed weekend I bought a 2000 z28 with 75,000 miles on it. It is completely stock right now, and im looking to first, put a muffler with new tips on it and then LT's this early summer and hopwfully an intake by then too.
But my question is which muffler would you guys perfer, im looking for a nice deep tone, pretty aggressive, but not super loud. I don't think im going to change it to a true dual set up, just keep it the way it is right now. Let me know if you have any info or advice. Thanks guys

If you're just going to change out the muffler the best stock
replacements are probably hooker or magnaflow.
If you plan on longtube headers down the road you should probably
consider doing a full catback exhaust though.
Whether or not you plan to go with an ORY or a catted y-pipe should
factor into the decision. A lot of exhaust don't sound good without cats.
Your best bet is to go to www.ls1sounds.com & figure out which exhaust
tone you like best.
My personal favorites are GMMG & Corsa. (I have Corsa)

yeah, if you plan on getting LT you will need to get a new y-pipe anyway, so you should just save up and get a complete cat back as well. and if you do decide to change out the muffler, stay away from flowmasters...... they might sound good but flow horribly. And as far as the air lid goes, get which ever one is the cheapest, they are all the same.

Good luck. I live in Illinois also and got way to much **** for my true duals. That's why I got rid of them. FYI-SpeedInc. does a nice job with Fab and Install and they are a sponsor here. Based on my HP/TQ numbers it was a lot louder than you will be but it was not worth the hassle....
Have fun with the car though!!

If you are looking for a good TD setup let me recommend this one. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ics-video.html
This is my new setup and I love it. You can find them at www.lpparts.com

Yeah theres a few cops in my home town that i might cathc some **** for, but there are a few kids that i know who have some loud trucks and havent got any problems, i guess i will just see what happens. And yeah i was thinking i was going to have speedinc do it, i got a quote from them a litte while back and i have a friend who lives prretty close to where they are located at.
And Lefty, i will definately look at your thred and take it in to consideration. I dont plan on getting it done till after winter, so i have some time to think and save some money up for it.

LTs TSP ORY and a Loudmouth 1 is rediculous loud. I could only imagine how loud a TD setup with loud mouth. I still miss that setup and I think I am going to return to it aswell once I figure out my engine issues and get out of Basic and AIT
