Default slp dual/dual with a cam

So im in the process of puting a head/cam combo on my 02 trans am and i wanted a more quiet exhaust then my current gmmg since i daily drive my car. I was thinking of trying to find a used slp dual/dual and useing a cutout for when i want to be loud. My qeustion is how does this exhaut sound with a cam? My cam is in the 228 range with a 112 lsa i just didnt want a super loud exhaust for every day driveing. I have an ory as of now and will most likly put a catted one on (not sure yet) So yea anyone with sound clips or who runs this exhaust with a cam please chime in and let me know how it sounds and how you like it. Oh yea i did want somthing a bit more aggresive then the stock muffler.

I'll try to get a vid of mine(same sized cam and dual/dual). I can tell you that I love the sound of it and when youre not flooring it, its pretty reasonnable for the streets. I have a pretty big rasp though around 2500-2700, btu I think its in the Y pipe design.

I have about the same size cam, macs, ory and the dual/dual. Great exhaust for a daily driver. Very tame unless your at WOT, not annoying at cruise. I'm someone who doesn't like loud exhausts and it's too tame for me at idle. Doesn't highlight the lope of the cam enough. At idle I'm not sure it's any louder than stock. At cruise, part throttle, wot , and revs it sounds GREAT though.

This is the best combo IMHO for any cam! I have had this combo on 2 of my cars! The 1st video is all the bolt ons Pacesetter headers/ORY and SLP dual dual with the Torquer v2 cam 232/234. The 2nd video is my old 00 Formula with pacestters/ory SLP dual dual with a small 224/224 on a 112 cam.

I have the same size cam, with heads and a little more compression. It sounds great in my opinion.

It sounds kinda raspy with no load on the motor, but when its going down the road the exhasut is really quiet and has no drone at all. At WOT the tone sounds really good, on decel it does have rasp. theres a little two step action at the end lol

thanks for the comploments. the catted y pipe would prolly take some of the rasp out of it.

Cody, that is WAYYYYYYYY louder than mine at idle. If mine sounded that good I wouldn't be looking for other alternatives

I have a similar set up and the dual/dual sounds great - no raso with catted y.

Thought I saw dual/duals in the FS section.

My setup is 3" custom Y pipe (no cats) to a 3" to 3.5" flowmaster merge collector to a 3.5" cutout than back into the factory dual dual setup. Great setup and the dual dual hides the cam quite a bit. My car is a daily driver when there is no snow. My lil 224 cam setup. I also tuned the **** out of my car and it idles so smooth now.

Here may be the difference with the different sounds to the dual/dual sounds?
The one on the left is the SLP high performance D/D....the one on the right is the SS D/D......This picture was from a person that has two GMMG cars and these were removed by GMMG. The one on the left was taken from a 345 HP SLP package....the one on the right was taken from a standard SS LE.

I've got a 99 SS w/ stock SLP dual/dual, ORY, it is still quiet, though louder than stock, quiet on road, with a nice growl about 2-3000rpm. I am thinking about duals, so I might be selling mine if interested.

I've heard hundreds of exhausts on here and in real life and I must say that I love the Dual-Dual on a H/C car. Really nice growl at Idle and anything in between with no rasp!! (Mods in Sig) and ridiculous with the cut-out open!! I was in the same boat as you deciding on an exhaust and I am so glad I went with this set up. Wish I had a Vid. for you, I ditched the the Borla and have never gotten so many compliments until I went with this exhaust!! G/L

Another suggestion is the Jegs catback. There is a few threads on it. Its like $275 shipped to your door. I have heard it in person on a 230 cammed car and it is perfect for a DD.

Since I posted before , I changed out the SLP muffler only for a Spintech splitcase muffler as an experiment. It's louder and MUCH deeper at idle which shows off the lope of the cam but not obnoxiously loud. Sounds like the old muscle cars with a big block which is what I was looking for. It's louder than the SLP at WOT and just as nice sounding but still not obnoxious. The SLP had virtually no drone at that dreaded 2500 RPM, the spintech has a little but very liveable. Even with no cats there's no rasp with the spintech. Very happy with this setup.

I know someone will ask so no, I'm not going to sell the SLP muffler yet.

one reason mine might be louder is because i removed the restrictor on the driver side of the muffler.
