like the title says, i want to put 3.73 gears in my car. it's a 98 z28 m6 w/2.73's. which carrier do i have? which do i need? do i have to change the carrier? or can i use a ring gear spacer?

you have a 2 seires carrier and you can do 1 of three things.
1. you can buy thick gears for the 2 series carrier, i think strange sells them.
2. you can buy gears for a 3 series which are thinner, plus buy a ring gear spacer. it's cheaper to buy the thick gears by the way.
3. you can buy a new 3 seires carrier from any number of sponsers and the 3 seires gears for that carrier.
any of these will work.

Personally I'd never go bigger then 3.73s in a 10-bolt, especially if you're making any power what so ever. These are also most of the reasons everybody upgrades from this worthless rear end in the first place.

oh i understand. ive built way to many of these little junk basterd. i just didnt know if by chance someone made a 2.73 for a 3series carrier. the ring gear would have to be awful thin but i think it could be possible, tho very highly unlikely
