custom cam for tc78 370 setup what do you think?
The cam is a lsr comp cam specs are adv.276 292
dur 227 243
lift .614 .624
Is this cam good for my setup? Pro's and con's please.
It is a 1993 trans am with a 370 lq9 swap 30 over with forged manly rods, manley pistons, tune time cnc'd head manley nexteck springs, manley oversized valves, arp rod bolts, arp main studs, arp head studs and custom ordered forced induction cam. I have a GTM78 turbo with .96 a/r, built th400, ptc 3000 stall conveter, strange 12 bolt aluminum cover
33 spline axle rear with 342s.
Thanks for any replies or comments.

Looks like this is for a daily driver. I know you probably would love the choppy idle I think this cam would exhibit but the guys are right (IMO). Too big for a street driven Turbo. If you get a cam spec quote from any of the big names (Bret Bauer(sp?), CamMotion, Lloyd, etc) I doubt any of them would recommend something of this order for your goals.

Single pattern, (~225/225) with mid 5XX lift on a 114LS. Let the turbo do the work...no reason for running such a large cam. Also as backpressure rises hanging that valve open that long will cause reversion.

ok, I was going with a pt88 turbo but i have seen to many of them fail, So i was looking at the tc78. I might go bigger with the turbo. This is not a daily driver its a track toy that i might take a cruise with once a month. Thanks for the info, I will speak with the builder about the duration. Thanks for the info guys.

You can also get the TC78 with the 'Race Cover' if you want to pump up the performance a bit while retaining the other quality/features of the TC series.
Go here and look at post #12 to see the pictures showing the difference in physical size.

I am going to use the cam. Tune Time stated they will stand by the cam and it will work well with my setup. They had a this cam on another forced induction pt88 370 ci car and it put out 800 whp with no issues. I trust them i have only ran and built 4 cyl turbo cars before. I was going to build this but tune time performance are ls/gm specialists so i decided to have them build it.
The trans am will have ac and no weight reduction. It well be a true street car that i can have fun with at the track once a week. I have everything to put the car together besides the turbo, down to the last bolt. Just waiting for tt to finish some of there currant projects so they can get started on my build. I will have pics soon.
