Default Video of me breaking at HRP, what do you think happened?

Had another interesting night at the track

YouTube - My Z06 breaks

Should have gone 11.70's tonight with the great air. First pass, bamb! What do you guys think I broke? No fluids came out of the car. It will not move in first gear/second gear. It will barely move in reverse. I just had a spec clutch installed, and the car has been chattering/shaking when there is not enough gas. Maybe something in the tranny? I do not think it is the rear, because reverse does work a tiny bit. Thanks for the help

if that broke, would it allow the car to go into reverse and crawl backwards?

yeah the car will want to move a little, i've broken at least 5 before. In everything from a bone stock car and on up (not the same car). Shoot me a PM I've got a couple stock ones laying around if you want one but you might as well upgrade while you have it apart

You could get some better DTE or RPM Half Shafts.

I figured I would just toast the stock stuff, then go with a built DTE rear with 3.90's, hardened shaft, and rear brace. I am not really worried about the rear, but still the clutch/tranny.

I am still worried about the new clutch that I had put in. Maybe it just made the car hit harder, and broke a shaft. I am used to high 1.7's to low 1.8 60 fts. I have no doubt this pass would have been a high 1.6, to low 1.7. The car squats hard if you look close, and I have a very good feel for my car. I made passes at HMP and Lonestar last week. Same setup, clutch, tire pressure, launch. But the car did not hit that hard. Also, look at how sticky the back tires are in the last pic. If you touch them, and put your fingers together, they stick. They obviously prepped the track tonight.

Chattering/shaking is the new clutch, it will smooth out in time. I agree with the others on the shaft.

Thanks, I am thinking about just letting the car sit, and go with a DTE complete rear end with 3.90's and a brace.

I might have it towed to a shop on Monday and have somebody check it out.

Sorry about your problems. I was there last night, but only saw the car on the wrecker, did not see it happen.

Good luck with your repairs.

Sorry about your car, I was out there last night in my blue C5 Z06. Ive had the same thing happen to me, it is more than likely your longer halfshaft. Good luck in the future and you will LOVE the 3.90's.

Thanks. Nice meeting you as well.

Thanks for all the replies. What type of labor cost am I looking at if it is just a shaft? Anything else I should beef up? Should I have this one fixed, add gears while it is out, and beef it up, or should I just buy a complete DTE one?

Give us a call. Hopefully its just the trans output shaft. Drop it off monday. We will get you rolling in no time. I can have a diff built for MUCH cheaper than a DTE diff.

Ive broke 2 rears at the track on my c5. Not fun.
