Default 4L60E and 600+hp

What would I need to build my tranny to handle ~600+rwhp? Definately a cooler, servo, shift kit, deeper pan, and stall. What else do I need to do?

don't get your hopes up, I made a thread a couple weeks ago looking for build suggestions for my tranny and no one replied

I can't blame the shops but I was hoping at least a couple others here might have built one of these up instead of buying one

eb02z06 (arun) is putting down over 900 to the wheels through his rpm level 6 4l60 and it seems to be holding up fine.

Not being a jerk but probably because it's been covered numerous times.

My car put down 643 rwhp with a 4L60E that I built 3 years ago. It's lived most of it's life in the 500+ rwhp range and never had any issues out of it.

I just blew up my 4l60e that JUST got rebuilt with parts supposedly able to handle 450+ rwhp. If you look at my sig you'll see that I am no where close to that number.

I too would like to know what I (or my shop) went wrong.

until my # 6 rod bearing decided to cause trouble

RPM level 5 4L60e w/ trans cooler about 2500 miles

Think I'll just buy the "Monster in a Box" and send the shafts out to be cryo treated and call it a day.

The big issue is that it takes more than parts, You will not every vendor here has some really storng cars running there units, But you will also note that each ussues different parts to get there, While parts do indeed play a role the fact is the build itself and the little tweaks and mods each builder has learned over the years to make them live.
I have seen over the years many post like this and unfortunatley I have seen more failures than successes in this area. If your going to build your own thats cool look at parts listed for the various vendors and you should get a good idea of wwhat you need in that area, And if this is for a learning experince and not to save money I would say go for it as long as the cars not a daily driver and you have lots of time and pateince on your hands.

It's a weekend ride and probably only gets driven about 1200mi. a year. I'll have until about April of next year to have it done and I'm the most patient person you'll ever meet.

I know there's more that I'm forgetting, but I set the 3/4 clutches up @ .015. I have between 100 and 200 passes and around 15k miles on this build and the pan hasn't been off. I accidently launched in 2nd gear on a 200 shot without killing it (1.60 60').
