Recommend an affordable puller for the crank pulley/balancer?
I've got my LQ9 mostly torn down to the shortblock, but I can't get the crank balancer/pulley off. My 3-fingered puller set doesn't have anything big enough to work, so I borrowed a larger one from my cousin, but the fingers just slide right off the balancer as soon as I start to tighten it.
This isn't the type of tool that I'm going to use often (or hardly ever for that matter) so I'd really prefer to avoid the Snap-On type stuff due to cost. Anybody recommend an affordable puller that can do the job well?

Borrowed a kit from Advance Auto that had that chrysler-style puller. Other than not having a long enough rod to slide into the crank bolt hole, it worked nicely. Thanks for the advice!

Most of the elcheapo generic pullers will get it off. I just wouldn't use them over and over again. I abused/destroyed 2 cheap pullers before biting the bullet (and bending over) to buy a Snap-on puller.
If you're a weekend warrior or only using the puller once, a $10-15 puller at Autozone will work just fine.
