Default security light! help!

my security light comes once in a while and car wont start. I saw a few write ups on the bypass but just wanted to see if someone on here has done it around the dfw area and maybe help me out, I m a little hesitant on messing with it myself, its my work car right now and dont want to risk screwing something up.....thanks guys

Pay the $300 and replace the whole column. I don't believe in the bypass.
You can try cleaning your key and key hole with some WD40/pressurized air.

That I'm aware of. I wouldn't really trust anyone else to do it.
It sucks, mine started acting up right after I bought my car 2 years ago. It was intermittent at first, then it would go a few days without starting. Considering having it towed, but not wanting to pay the fees, I stayed outside all day until I got it to fire up. Then hauled *** to my nearest Pontiac Dealer.
It's a bit hard on the checking account. But... I can rest assured I shouldn't have any problems with it from now on.

Mine does it about once month. Just take the key or vin # to a dealer and have them cut you a new key, that's probaably the problem. I can just wiggle my key when it acts up and it will start. Something I got used to and it keeps my wife from driving my car, ha ha.

my car can be off and the security light is on, so I know its not going to start from the moment I look at my dash, it doesnt do it when the key is in, I tried both of my keys but as long as that light is on it wont turn on, I usually wait about 5 min and the lights will turn off, then im ready to go....sometimes when Im driving it will come on for a few min. and turn off again...does this sound like something that can be fixed with the bypass?.....I dont think a knew key will fix it, this car did have remote start before so im not sure if that has something to do with it....

my security light has been on for about a year now. ive never had a starting issue but from what ive read its because when you turn the key it rubs on a wire, and after so long the wire gets exposed and thats what makes it happen. im not going to worry about mine until it stops starting.

The bypass will fix it.
Mine was like that too.
I didnt know about the bypass (probably wouldn't have done it anyway) and had to take care of it at the dealer.
