Default rough ride, mainly in the rear

i have dms springs with bilstein shocks. i have had them for about 5 years, and subframes with them for about 4 years. i think the subframes made it worse, but it seems like the ride has gotten a bit more stiff over the years, mostly in the rear. i don't know what hitting the bump stops feels like, although i feel like that happens from time to time, so i am thinking of options to fix this roughness.

i don't have the rear isolator in. i have a rubber hose just like many do. it's been there for the duration of me having the springs in the car, so for all i know they could be rubbed raw by this point and that could result in the ride quality suffering. i'm thinking i may need to get a thicker hose or put the isolators back in. problem is i don't know how much the isolators will raise the rear of the car. here is a picture of my car if you have any estimates on how far the rear will be raised and whether or not it will look funny if i do that. any other options for getting the ride less rough, let me know...

Ther isolaters will raise the car up about 3/4". As far as the roughness goes the frame connectors do stiffen up the chassis which is going to transmit more road noise into the cabin. Shocks do wear out so that is also something to check into. If you decide to upgrade your springs we offer a 1.25" drop spring for both front and rear. If you have any questions please let me know.

having just done my rears I can tell you the spring isolator would add about 1/2".

The declining ride quality is probably due to the Bilstiens getting worn out. They were overworked with more spring rate than they could handle and got progressively worse. I'd point to the shocks before the subframes.

Also I agree with putting back the rear isolator. Check your rear axle bumpstops too, make sure they haven't rotted out. They should be triangular shaped since you have a z28

Yes, any additional suspension travel will help.

When you take one of the rear wheels off you'll see the bump stops right in front of you, directly above the rear axle.
Your should look like mine, except longer and with more of a taper ( mine are cut down 1" for more suspension travel with the air springs.)
