ok my car is a beast on the road but seems that once my light comes on for low fuel it reallys screams and has so much more power. ive tried different fuels ,supreme , mid grade and low plus used octane booster and car seems to run better with the mid and low stuff could some thing be wrong since it has a tune upgrades and was supposed to run 93 from the factory or am i just nuts.

You're nuts. Keep it above 1/4 tank and your fuel pump will last longer. Use 91 octane since that is what it is tuned for from the factory. Gas weighs about 3lbs per gallon. The fuel tank is a 16.8 gallon tank for 99-02, and 15.8 for 93-98. You do the math as to how much a full tank of gas weighs vs. a near empty tank. When you get low on gas you are more likely to suck debris from the tank into the fuel pump and clog it.

anyways, yes your car gets fast the lower the gas gets in your tank...you see there is a fine brown dust in there, that dust is pure octane. so when your gas level gets low and that dust becomes more concentrated and is picked up by the fuel pump your car will make more power. so u should run your tank almost dry before you fill up each time, oh and make sure to floor it a lot too.

If you put 91 octane in the tank and then add octane booster, you will foul your plugs. LS1s are tuned for 91 octane from the factory, and not 85, 87, or 89. Putting higher octane fuel in your car will do nothing if it hasn't been tuned to run a different timing for the higher octane. I did an LS1 swap as well but a lot cleaner than yours and in 3 days. Trust me in that I know what I'm talking about here...

first off how do you know its cleaner than mine have you seen my car, are stalking me or something and mine took 5 days because im disabled for a spinal injury at moment so doing in 2 less days than me is actually not a big accomplishment since i can only work for about 30 minutes at a time before i have to sit and take a break so if you think your car is so much nicer come to hood or houston and ill line up with you any time and see if your horse powers as big as your mouth

damn didnt realize gas was that heavy but i dont notice a gradual increase in power its like all the sudden car takes off at a certain lvl.
im wondering if maybe my coils are going out causeing weak spark causeing me to bog down with the higher octane gas since not fully combusting cause i have noticed car smells like running rich at times.
maybe the crap on bottom of tank is just bad gas or lower octane so its getting full burn.
im gonna check plugs and stuff tomorrow see if they are fouled that would account for the weak spark to.
and no i dont use the cheap stuff i still get premium so

I had the same feeling that my V6 was a lot faster when at a near empty tank. I'm really sure it's the weight. If low octane was in the bottom of the tank then why would it be faster as the gas level got lower? You'd be sucking in lower grade fuel since the pickup is at the bottom of the tank, and your LS1 which is factory tuned for 91 would run like crap the lower you got. It also wouldn't be a reoccuring thing. You shouldn't have low octane in the tank unless you put some in at the last or second to last fill up. Checking the spark plugs and wires is a good thing but that still wouldn't account for an increase in performance unless the car was running really rough all the time, but that wouldn't have anything to do with the fuel level in the tank. If a coil was going bad, you would have misfires or no spark at all - not a noticeable increase in performance for X minutes when the gas tank is low and has about 16 lbs of gas in it.
I'd run you, but only if I'm on an almost empty tank. Even if I lost (which is a good possibility since my setup is almost stock), at least I would have an engine bay without wires everywhere and full functionality of my car (things like turn signals) because I researched the proper way to swap in an LS1 without cutting the body harness and did what worked best. Sorry about your disability.
