Not challenging your answer to loop the water pump heater outlet with a hose back to the water pump heater hose inlet because it does make sense.
But does the heater control valve reroute the coolant back to the water pump via the return hose or simply block passage of the coolant into the heater core?
If coolant is stopped at the heater control valve (when heater is off) and not recycled back to the water pump via the return hose then capping the outlet and inlet heater hose connections at the waterpump performs the same function as the heater control valve.
So there would be no advantage to run a hose from outlet to inlet at the waterpump vs just capping both outlets at the waterpump.

I cant say i havent done it..... in fact mine are capped as we speek
but................ i got a magazine today with an ls stroker motor article in it and in the magazine it talks about capping the lines that you should loop them together because just capping them can cause problems
like i said mine are capped for now just until i get the heater core replaced
and i havent had any problems yet
but i did read that today so i figured i would tell

Hey look i can use the search feature
Anyway, i've been reading threads about this topic but havent come across what people are using to block the heater hose passage off at the water pump.
Any insight?

Yea, right after i posted that, i found a thread mentioning rubber caps with worm clamps.
Then i found another thread talking about overheating issues. Any problems with yours? You still using stock thermo or change anything else besides blocking the passages off?
