Default Help me decide stall speed for my car!

I just picked up an ATF level 2 powerglide today for my lsx mustang notchback and need help picking a conv. The car will be mainly used as a track car but will see some hwy. miles. The motor is a bone stock 2000 ls1 that I'm putting a 76mm turbo on. I will be building a forged motor later on and would like to get a conv. that will work good for the stock motor and on the built motor. What rear gear ratio would be best for this set-up on a 26" slick for the 1/4 mile. If any more info is needed on my part feel free to ask, thanks.

I would have to recommend a Circle D Specialties 230mm for the set up you have. It's very efficient and will serve you well with the powerglide. The stall choice will have to be decided once the cam, gear, power options are chosen.

We run their 230mm in our quicker car that also runs a powerglide and it works great with both of our combos.

What will be the weight of the car?

But I'm thinking since turbos like to be under load, maybe a 4000 stall with 3.73 gears?

depending on what the car weighs may change my sugestion, but I figured it weighning 3,000 with driver?

Plan on running trans brake?

The tranny already has a trans brake. The car should weigh around 3000 with me in it, maybe a little less. The motor that I am using first is a bone stock ls1 cam and all. I want to get as much out of this combo as I can. Thanks again for the help.

Cool man, I'm sure its going to be one sick combo. Just keep looking and try to find a few people who have turbo'ed lsx motors with glides and see if they are happy with their stall/gear setup.

Anyone else have any input on stall speed or rear gears with a 26" tall tire?

We here at FTI have a lot of experience with turbo cars and powerglides. the converter i would recomend is an SSW series 9". Specifically designed for a turbo application as the converter has to be loose enough to spool but efficient enough to couple once it is spooled. give us a call at 1-866-726-8358 and I can explain the benifits of having a converter builder like us on your team!!!
