Hi guys, i took the jeep yesterday to the tuners to remove vats and all other useless stuff, he said my dbw is showing no signal!!!, all the wires are connected..... i think the problem is from the the TAC or the pedel?

i have a 5.3 out of a 2003 subarban... im using the 9pin tac... is that right?

any ideas

Street and Performance has a section of their catalog that has all the drive by wire part numbers and years.

http://www.hotrodlane.cc/

I know that mixing and matching can be tricky and it is best to have all the DBW and at least from the same year and it is best to have them all from the same car/truck.

As for the ignition, you need to go back to basics.

-Look at the schematic and make sure all the grounds are hooked up

-Check to see that you've got 12 V to the power supply for the coils

-Trace the signal wire back to the PCM - do you have continuty?

If this all checks out, look at your crank and cam position sensors and make sure they are correctly connected, there is a 5V reference voltage present at the connector, the grounds are there and there is continuity in the signal wire back to the PCM

If all this checks out, it should fire

well, i have 12v from pcm to the coils, just nothing comming out the other side towards the plug wires... there is no spark, is it possible that the pcm is not letting the coils spark?

does the dbw affect cranking because i have removed my tac module.....

also im using my old jeep wires to power the starter and fuel pump is that ok?

The PCM fires the coils by using inputs from the crank position sensor and cam position sensor, and that's why you need to check both of those sensors.

You need to make sure they are connected, grounded and have the +5V reference voltage going to them.

Are you getting any codes out of the PCM?

I don't know if the engine will fire without the DBW hooked up. It would seem unlikely given that that is the engine's throttle and you really wouldn't want to try and start the engine without control of the throttle.

ok guys, i have a slight spark in my ground wire, when i turn the ign on, i get a slight current in my ground wire near the alt, does this mean i have a short circuit in my wiring??? or is that normal??

im also pulling p0120 and p0220 error codes, the spark is comming from one or more of the pink wires....

also i have checked the P/N on my tack, its correct with my engine model...

do i need to connect all the ing1 voltage wire to hot in run? or just some?

also what is MIL control is it important?

Thanks in advance

All those codes are for the DBW communication not working. Individual components from different years often won't work together. Did you look at S&Ps catalog and your part numbers to see what you have?

If there is current flowing to the coils and you interupt the ground it will spark. If the ground has continutiy and you break the power it will spark too. I wouldn't advise testing circuits by seeing if they 'spark' - you are going to damage the PCM or sensor doing that- you need a DVM

The most common failure in a harness is a broken wire not a shorted wire.

All the pink wires need to be connected to a hot in run power source, preferably a fused one switched on and off with a relay from the ignition
