which small block do i want? lol
ok, ever since i got the idea to do my engine build ive been going back and fourth on the motor that i want to build. i need your guy's opinions on this one. and let me say this is a budget build, so a 600 hp 383 isnt in the budget. but the two major choices im looking at come highly recomended from my buddy who builds racecars for a living. both will be running vortec heads, srp pistons, and if i could ever remember what else for internals id tell you. the first will be a small journal 327 bored.30 over, 283 crank and 350 heads, cam unknown at this point. second will be a 400 sbc, 350 crank (377) he told me that the 377 is an insane motor, but the little 327 would be a killer setup just hard to find parts for. any thoughts?

dont destroke the 400---- if you're going to be running the siamese cylinders you might as well take advantage of the longer stroke and torque of the 3.75" stroke of the 400 crank. this way you wont have to rev as high to get power out of it.
a vortec headed 400sbc with a decent cam is a glorious, cheap to build, well mannered street engine.

Agreed with above. Cubes rule. "Would you like more cubes??" "YES PLEASE!" is my answer.. It can always be upgraded with bigger heads and more cam down the road.. Goodluck!
