Default Single Turbo or Procharger F-1C

Car is a 2005 GTO, full weight. My goal is 800rwhp through a TH400. It's going to more of a fast street car/ occasional racer. Not an all out race build. Engine is a 370 LS motor with 9.25:1 compression, ported 243 heads, and a 243/247 .624/.624 on a 116 cam. TH400 w/ a 4200rpm stall, 3.46 gears, and 26" tires(I can fit 28" if I want).
I was originally going to do a front mount single turbo w/ C6 manifolds, but now I'm second guessing myself. I like the simplicity of just bolting on a blower without having to pay for fab work and working kinks out. Just wanted to hear some opinions from you all.

I couldn't live with all that noise under the hood. Your street car will sound like a race car all the time. Absolutely zero stealth factor.

Not worried about noise, lol. I like loud and obnoxious. My wife was actually pissed when I told her a turbo setup would quiet the car down. She liked the old nasty NA cam and the loud exhaust. She was also pissed at me for putting in a TH400 after blowing up the 6-speed. She hates automatics. Her Duramax is a 6-speed manual and she is bent Chevy quit offering manuals.

I've decided to go single turbo after the same debate with myself. I'm getting a 370 built now and turbo later when the funds get built back up.

You will be able to reach your goal a little easier with a turbo setup rather than a Blower setup. Both will get the job done however.

I've got some pics from Perdieu's build, so when I show the shop what his looks like maybe I can get a ballpark estimate on fab cost for a single. Who knows, maybe I can use two C6 manifolds and just tie them together with a single. Be easier to tell once I get the motor back in the car.

That's the cam my engine builder came up with along with his engineer buddy at Comp Cams for a turbo build. Showed up way bigger than I thought was necessary as well, but I'll give it a shot.

800 to the wheel in a th400 with a 4200 rpm stall is alot of power. dont aim for a rwhp number, set a goal with et or trap speed

That is one big thing going for the turbo setup. Easy to adjust boost down for the street. I want to be mid to high 9's in a full weight GTO when set on kill. I will most likely run the local 10.0 index class because I don't have enough money to hang with the Outlaw boys. I also just found out that somebody is selling their single T76 kit off their GTO to switch to a Procharger, so depending on the price I may pick that up.

you will need more cubes to take advantage of a f1c setup, my buddie just changed his blower to a f1-a (383 ls1) bob told him that they have better results in lower rpms

So he went from a F-1C to a F-1A? I'm running a 4200rpm stall. I was hoping I could take advantage of the extra airflow I could get out of the F-1C.

he went from the f1c to the f1a. bob told him that the f1c takes more power up top but for a primarily street car the f1a would be a better fitfor the street. imo your setup would be better with a nice t-76 or maybe bigger. with your stall converter it would be spooled up and ready to go right off the line..

Hmm. Good info. Thanks.

I was thinking of the T78 from Turbonetics, the next bigger compressor housing over the TC78.

Not the TC with the small compressor housing. The "T" with the next larger compressor housing. Raceweight would be about 4300#. I was also eyeballing the Precision 80GTS.

My goal is 1000 at the crank on kill and dial it back a little to run the 10.0 class.
