Default Dyno comparison between mine and a dynojet

Throughout the year alot of people asked what difference there was between my Mustang 1100D dyno and my old shops Dynojet 240.

Yesterday I went to Dez's to compare. Car was a customers Mild H/C 07 Z06.The car made 512hp/508tq on my dyno.At Dez's it made 528hp/519tq. So the difference was about 15hp/12-15tq across the whole power curve.

As you see my dyno is pretty close but expect alittle more power in the dyno graph going to a Dynojet.

I'd rather have accurate numbers over big numbers any day, but that's just me.

I think the "accurate" part comes more from what the dyno operator does than which dyno you're on, as long as the dyno is not all out of wack (not calibrated or something).

My dyno has a weather station built in so it stays pretty accurate for weather changes.

The big thing is setting up the Mustang dyno. When they ship it the calibration is very low.I learned if you pay them $2k they come out and set it up.Screw that after paying alot of $$ for the dyno.So I researched and set it up myself. It was tested on my own car from 20 degree's out to 95 degree's out.The SAE #'s were within 1-2% everytime. That way I verified it won't throw higher/lower #'s in different weather.

Very cool Slowhawk!!!!! Nice to see someone spend the time at not only making sure customer cars are tuned to the hilt but the dyno is too

That is interesting but it's about time people realized the true value of a dyno as a tuning/diagnostic tool.

I agree, but lots of people want to make the number just to impress they're buddys. Its that number that sells parts to 80% of the street guys out there. might not be the right way but its the reality.

Thanks for sharing the info Don.

Looks like your dyno is a bit closer to an actual dynojet than most mustang dyno's. Speaking in general (not considering all factors), most mustang dynos are about 5-8% lower, while yours is 3%ish

512 * 1.03 = 528 appx.

cool to know.

I assume you are running your Mustang dyno in Mustang mode and not Dynojet mode correct? Have you ran you Mustang dyno in dynojet mode and compared it to a dynojet dyno?

You can have the same car on 2 diffrent dynojets or 2 diffrent mustang dynos and make diffrent #'s..... I look at them as a tunning tool and an estimate on your hp #'s.... Not actuall.

That sounds right. When you tuned my trans am it put down 335 whp 345 ft/lbs. I went on a dynojet a few months later for ***** and got 350 whp and 360 tq.

We compared our Dynocom to a Dynojet
We were 8RWHP/14RWTQ HIGHER on a 500RW setup?

So on our DC it made 501RWHP and on the DJ it made 493RWHP
Its just a tool, If the car dont run good who cares about max powa

Biggest thing is don't change it! As a tuner, nothing would irritate me more than a shop owner who would "mess with" the calibration because one of his "combinations" didn't make good power and he didn't want to admit it...

I've seen that before. Dynojet guy's have the option of putting a heat gun to the weather station.

Mine will stay like this, just like it has since I got it(then tuned in)
