the great transition
Well guys, I am finally making the transition into some real power!
Right now I drive a 2002 Chevy s10 regular cab with a 4.3/auto.
What I am wanting to do is take a 5.3 block and have it bored for building an ls1 out of it! I am on here because I'm gonna need help finding parts I need in order to do this build...My hp expectations are not really all that high as I will be driving the truck daily...Prolly only looking to have 325-350RWHP...I will be happy with that until I get a daily driver!
I am going to go with a stock bottom end because, like I said, not gonna build a race truck....just a REALLY fun daily driver!
Could someone help me build a parts list up of what I will need....not part numbers, just the parts!
Here is a pic of the truck the motor is going in! Thanks

good looking truck! im also going to look for research on bigger cubed 5.3 blocks, on what piston/rod/crank combos work and such.
honestly your goals of 325-350rw can be had with that stock 5.3 as is, ive seen some stout combos with a LS6 cam and some headers on these, putting it right in your neighborhood.
first i say get the 5.3, get it in there, stock is 280hp, which is more than your 4.3. and get some tuning software, the 5.3's are detuned pretty bad from the factory, theyre on a 87 octane tune, and just not for performance.
then start up your mods, those goals arent huge for just a 5.3.

Thanks for the compliments on the truck guys!
I would stick with just the 5.3...but wouldnt it be easier to get the horsepower from the ls1? I know I would save about 300 bucks...I went to a machine shop around my area and they said it would be 300 bucks to punch the 5.3 out to a ls1....ouch!
If I got the 5.3 I prolly would just have to hone the cylinder walls and have the heads ported and polished...that would really be the only machine work.
Would I have take the intake in to have everything port matched?
Also, how long would my stock 4l60e last with 350RWHP?
