Default 98 camaro head swap

Hey. I want to swap the heads on my 98 camaro with 243s from a corvette. Since this year has perimeter-bolt valve covers and single coils, what else do I need for the swap? Thanks

Why not save and swap for a set that will show more gains? Going through a head swap is not a small job and swapping to a set of stock 243s would be a litle waste of time imo.

To answer your question you will need new gaskets, new head bolts, coolant for when you pull the water pump, and a box of band-aids.

You will need coolant but you shouldn't have to pull the water pump. If all you are doing is a head swap, you shouldn't have to pull the pump. Be sure to clean the bolt holes out well to ensure you don't damage the block.

because its a 1998, you will need 99+ style valve covers and gaskets and coil pack mounting brackets. or you could get an aftermarket ls1 valve cover and relocate the coil packs.

i would have to agree with 'homerun.' Get an aftermarket set or get those stock 243's ported. I swapped in stock 243's on my 98 T/A and wish i would of waited for a cheap set to pop up....

THANKS- either way there will be extra expense for valve covers, coil packs even with aftermarket heads. You guys are right with saving for better heads, cause then I'll also need a better cam and ...

You won't "need" a better cam, but it would be nice to have.

You wont get enough performance out of the 243s to have it be worth it. maybe 10whp
