Easiest LT Headers to Install
I am planning on geeting either hooker or pacsetter long tube headers. Which one is the easiest to install? Will either have any clearance issues slipping them into place? Thanks

i have hookers and they were a BREEZE to put in.... although i had my car on a lift, but even on the ground they are REALLY easy just a lil harder due to the ground... just jack your car up as HIGH as possible if your on the ground.... i would go with hookers if i were you but either one of those is fine

I just did a Hooker install on an 02 SS... Very easy install!!! No lift involved, Just floor jack and Jackstands. Had to remove the steering knuckle, but other than that they went in very easy!!!

dude if your gonna go with some cheap headers just go with the pacesetters. they rust so what. unless you have people crawling up under your car looking at it all the time,or its a show car just do the pacesetters. they are one of the most proven headers for ls1.
i maybe picking up some with the ory. like 370 for both cant beat it.
on my 2nd ls1 i had stainless dynatechs. now thos were really nice stainless and the install was cake. but they were a pretty penny to......

the pacesetters def look like the best option. I was looking at some no name brands on ebay for 175.00 stainless steel, but i wont really know what i am getting. I would like not to have to modify things that are not saposed to be modified such as the knuckle and such. I also dont have a lift so i dont want to me disconnecting and moving the motor around to get the LT in. Getting them to slide in correctly is my biggest issue.

I agree with sticking to brand name stuff. Yea i am planning on doing the whole thing headers, y, cat, and catback system. Figure while everything is off and the bolts are new and not rusted on the there i should do it all one shot. Is the headers and ORY for that price on their website?

me and my buddy installed my pacesetters in my garage with a floor jack and jack stands in a couple hours with minimal issues. Just jack the car up as high as it goes and they should slide right in. The passenger side just slid right in, the drivers header took a little work to get in there but nothing major. I have never dealt with Hookers headers so i can't comment on them.

I've been the instigator of installing three sets of Jet Hot LT's (they're modeled after Hooker's design). A set on my Firebird and a set on two different Camaros.
Never any grinding or cutting on any of the cars, but I did have to raise my 'bird really ******' high to get the passenger header to slide in. The drivers side slipped right in.
The Camaros were the opposite. The passenger side was a breeze and the driver's side was really tight when sliding it up into place. On the first, my buddy Dave's Z28, we put a small dimple in the firewall and then were able to get it into the engine bay. The second, my bro's SS, he wasn't really up for denting his 4500 mile 35th Ann. Camaro, so we just muscled the ****** up into the engine bay with a combonation of force and finesse.
I have no idea why the process would be any different between the two F-body's. This is just what happend with my experiences.
Good luck with your install.
