Glide in a Bolton only car?

In my experience, a PG is usually a step behing a TH350 in terms of ET. In a Chevelle we used to race we went from a 350 to PG for bracket racing. The car was running 11.3x w/ the 350 and went 11.5x with the glide. Both trans were set up with brakes. That car was 3100# with driver. I do know with PG's, the lighter the car the better.

If you ran the same gear out back, the rpm drops from going to a glide will result in the car leaving softer and probably working a little less efficiently on the front half of the track... You'd have to add more gear to make the glide work as good or better. Remember that when it comes to shift points, you want your engine to spend all it's time in your power band during a pass. If one's rear gearing, or transmission gearing don't keep you in there, and of course get you into that power band as quickly as possible... It's not worth it.
Guys making 1000 hp have a different problem. Too much power, more than they can hook. Some guys will go to a glide to take gearing and reduce the torque multiplication.

Even at my level the glide was a tiny bit slower. It was worth it, because I didn't have to abort every other pass.
As mentioned, you have no where near enough power to switch to a glide.
If you want to spend all the dough to make a 200 work, you will be fine.
With such a mild engine, a basic 350 w/brake would be a great bang for the buck.

On marginal tracks where traction could be an issue go with the glide. I went from the 4L60E to a Glide. Would not have it any other way. One shift and it's done. Since I went to Methanol last year my 60's has improved a lot.
Before methanol I was cutting mid 1.4's with the 4L60E, then I switched to the glide and it increased to mid to low 1.5's. Now it's in the high 1.4's to low 1.5's
Converter is a big factor for the glides, don't skimp on one.
