Muffler removal
I can't get my freaking SLP Dual Dual muffler off of the I-pipe. I don't want to cut it. I heated the thing up RED hot and twisted, pulled, yanked, shook and nothing. I hear the metal crackling from expanding. Did I give up too easily or what? PLEASE HELP

did you heat it right on the edge or close to? if so you may have heated both of them up together try a little lower down and you should be able to get it off. Dont give up so easy

Lol! wish I could be more help here. I have a welder, so everything gets cut off so I dont knock my elbows and hands all over the under carriage. Actually, I got my SS with the loudmouth on it from the factory. I ended up getting headers and fabbing up a 4" Mufflex setup with Magnaflow muffler. So I too the manifolds off and dropped the entire thing at one time and just cut the part over the rear end off and I still could not get that muffler out of there without cutting it. This was in a Vice with 2 people pulling and twisting. I think that there was a tac weld or 2 that we could not see that was holding that thing up as well as the day is wide!

I have seem alot of stock systems have a dimpled area where the metal protrudes out and locks it inside another tube so it cant slip out. Id guess its going to have to be cut, but its ok it eill still be useable afterwards....hit up your local exhaust shop....

I would just pick a sensible spot that looks like it could be gotten to easily in the future for a welder and cut it there using a cutoff wheel or a sawzall with a metal blade. It would take 5 mintues and little effort VIOLA!

I just puled my stock DD this weekend. Like i said in your other thread get the muffler inlet red hot, concentrate on the top part where the rod part of the clamp was, this is where it is sticking. Before you heat it up feel with your hand of how deep the clamp dented the pipe in. Also get a buddy to pull while you are heating it up, it's easier. I did mine myself in about 10 mins. It'll work, trust me.
