which heads?
i have an extra set of 241's that i had planned on having worked, but now i'm thinking about just getting a set of stage 3 patriot ls6 heads. which would be the better head in the long run. i'm ordering the texas speed 228r cam, long tubes, fast 92 combo ported. i'm just trying to get the most bang for the buck.

You don't need the stg 3 heads.

so did you drive the car with the MS4 very much on the street. they claim some bad *** #s with that cam. the tuner is trackmasters in huntsville al. who do you use. which car has the ms4 the 7.20 car or the 7.40.

a 228r is a torquey mid range cam and by using the stage III with a FAST intake you will loose some of that mid range grunt. ultimately you would still see a gain but it would be up high. so it kinda defeats the purpose of having a 228r.

It was in the 445Rwhp or so range with the H/C/I setup with a 4400 converter and 410s.
Wait, you are getting tuned by the guy that tunes at Trackmasters? Gomer? Is he your tuner? If so, you are set. He is my tuner as well.
This is no joke. My ms4 car drove 10X's better than my current car (226 cam) when I got it. Gomer had originally done the tune and they got another tuner to tune the 226 cam car. It ran like **** when I got it. Surging, bucking, dying, etc etc etc... I got Gomer to tune it and it runs like stock. Only times I have problems is when it is extremely cold and the first 5-10 minutes of driving. After that it is fine.
My 7.2 car has the Ms4. With traction (suspension) and a tune that car would have easily ran 6.9s@97mph without a problem in the same weather as the 7.2 passes. Those times were ran in 2000DA also. If I could of got some 500-1000DA it would have ran in the high 6.7s@99 or so, I have not a doubt in my mind. Wish I would have put some suspension on it to find out.
EDIT:: The Stg III heads are not made for stock cube cars. You want to stick with the Stg. I or II. Bigger is not always better, a well thought out combo will always be the quickest.

Gomer is also my tuner
fwiw I had the 228r cam in my old ws6 and I HATED it.
I bought a cam off of him (split 226/228 to small for me now) it put down 360hp/360tq through a 3200 stall, ls6 intake, and hooker catback. I then bought a set of PRC 2.5 5.3 heads and then took it back to gomer. It put down right at 400rwhp and 380-385tq. They were perfect for what I wanted and with the addition of a F.A.S.T intake/tb Im hoping for 420+

You can make run amazing times with the ms4, you can also run amazing times with a much smaller cam.
Think about it... My car right now is trapping almost 92mph.. My white one was trapping almost 96mph. The differences between the cars....
ms4 car 226 car
heads stg 1 ls6 hand ported/milled 317s
stall 4400 VIG 4000 PTC
gear 410s 373s
intake ported 9090 ls6
race weight 3200 3550
As you can see the 226 car is a GREAT disadvantage mod wise. Full suspension helps it a ton though.
Realistically with the white one having traction and both running in good DA.. White one was capable of 6.8s@97mph, current 226 car capable of 7.0@95mph.
Again, think about the MAJOR differences in mods and weight... The ms4 car had a lot more in it and weighed a lot less. They are definitely KILLER cams and I absolutely love them. BUT! A nice custom grind cam that is set up for your specific application can be MUCH smaller and run pretty much the same ETs.
I split down the middle... I really love the Ms4, but I look at my current 226 car and it runs sick times for the mods it has and what it weighs.. I still have some more to squeeze out of this setup before I change anything.. I'm shooting to hit 7.0s without changing anything major.. Then I will change heads/intake and shoot for 6.8s@100mph or so. Of course I will be going with a better intake/heads than what was on the white car but it hows that a small cam car can run good times.
