Anyone hear of the Deals Gap?
Basically 318 turns with in a 11 miles up in NC. Bikers and car groups go ever year.
I've never been but might go this year.
If you think you might be interested maybe we can get a group to ride up together.

Bikes, like motorcycles, or people pedaling bikes? That road looks orgasmic! Looked at their website, I'm amazed at the rock slide pictures. Always saw signs for falling rock on my travels and used to laugh about it, damn!
Edit: after watching some videos I see it is highly popular with motorcycles. Also the THP though.

I've been trying to set up a trip w/ the 1krr for the past couple years and have just never been able to pull it off. Even after gas & hotels it's still cheaper than a weekend at Jennings, unless you get popped by the popo.

A few months ago I went with a group of friends and we had a blast running the Tail of the Dragon. This is one of those once in a lifetime experience that should be shared with friends. The Green Viper is owned by one of the girls in our club and she was a wild woman as we chased her all weekend through the mountains. Enjoy the pics.
Corey since you think the road looks orgasmic you will not ride with me since stains on the seat are a no no.

I don't know Richie, you told me I could get a ride in the Viper, I wouldn't hesitate to get that ride on that road! I'll wear a condom?
Any good roads worth the trip up to Citrus?
I usually hit up Powell and Hayman Rd. for some corner carving, now looking at that picture I feel like I'm not driving on anything really curvy.
Anyone on here ever been out to Lemoore, CA? I was stationed out that way for a few years, tore up the Sequoia's and Yosemite, the mountains out by Coalinga were also fun to drive on.

Known about this road for years but never been able to get up there. If theres a group outing then Id go in a heartbeat. Maybe plan it as an add-on to F-Body Gathering since everyone will be up there anyways, instead of making two trips.

Tail of the Dragon is closed for quite some time (possibly Sept 1, 2010) due to a rock slide. They (local news channel) just inteviewed the Deal's Gap owner and he told 26 of his 30 employees there wouild be no work this year. The Cherohala Skyway is still open but if travelling a long distance you might as well wait until it is all open. I-40 has been closed for 4 months now also due to rock slides. Just a nasty winter here in the mountains.

Kinda disappointing to hear, I more than likely would have been driving North in August to go to PA. Guess I will take the usual boring and straight route up I-95. At least there are plenty of twisties I can tear up in NE PA by my Dads, he lives in the middle of farmland.
Only thing I worry about up there that I don't see as often down here is deer. Oh and I had a horse run into my car once when coming down a hill and I nearly missed a cow in the dark/fog. When I was up this last winter a deer shot out from in between two houses in a town, happened really fast. Didn't smash up my Dad's 08 Impala SS thankfully.
