Wink minor mod GXP Vs Minor mod TC SS Coby

My friend and me have a bet going to see who has the better car lol this spring we r doing it up at a local track.

My Car 07 GXP
intake
exhaust
catless dp (latest mod)
tune
shiftkit
ported tb
tbs

His Car 08 TC SS
shorty intake
tune
exhaust

I know these TC Cobys come alive with a tune. Hes been spouting off how he beat a G8 GT but theres only two in the city closest to me and both said they didnt race him...So basically hes salivating at the mouth to toss money on this race haha. Just wondering if i have a chance of winning. I Got rockers in the basment if I find the time to get them installed lol.

Im guessing your talkin about a cobalt ss turbo. If so, I would guess he would win up top. I say his because he has to be right about 300hp and the car is only about 3200lbs. If you can afford it get a stage 2 intake headers and re-tune and put the rockers on and you shouldn't have any issues beating him.

I raced a stock one from a roll and barely put half a length on him...I'd be careful putting any money on the race.

These TC Cobalts are like the skittles. They can be made very fast very cheap.

I wonder how much you have with your stuff? I would say some weight reduction might help. and if you want give it a little spray a little cheater kit couldnt hurt lol

but other than that I think he might take you..

Just do it and post results. On paper he 'should' get you, but driver mod is the key factor.

Just remember to select the gear you need to be in before the race starts. That will help with it some.

On paper he's got you. Base curb weight alone, difference between 2926lbs. to 3711lbs. STOCK #'s Coablt has 43 horsepower less and 63 ft. lbs less. Not that big considering weight difference. Like already stated though driver mod may win this one. Imp'y will have much better top end.

How will we have better top end than a turbo car? in the longer gears, he's in boost for a much greater amount of time which means his powerband should be much better than ours.

if this is a street race i think it could be won or lost off the line. i think if you got a real good launch i dont think he would reel you in and blow you away.

I wouldn't race him from a roll. I'd beg and plead for a dig if you can launch your car.

toss a hundred shot on there, you'll win for sure. When you win the bet you can use the money to pay off some of the kit.

his car most definitely shouldnt need anywhere near a 100hp to beat that guys cobalt with a tune. but 100hp shot would definitely ensure an *** pounding and the winnings would pay for some of it.

I'm not saying it's not safe if set up correctly. Just that "throw a 100 shot on there and whip his ***" doesn't bode well. lol
