Buying Axles instead of a full rear end???
Had a buddy at work tell me that instead of buying a new rear end (since im 19, in college, and dont have $2000 laying around) that i should just buy new axles and gears... Is this true? i know i wont get the same durability as a ford 9", or a moser 12 bolt, but would it be better to buy axles and gears FOR NOW?!?!

i broke my gears on the street on a 1st to 2nd gear shift with 415rwhp and nittos usally the gears or diff will go before the axles simple answer is if you dont have the money then dont abuse it the only thing i think is worth putting on a 10 bolt is t/a cover i actually have one for sale its cheap assurance

if you launch by using sticky tires and dumping the clutch, expect the rear to break. there have been a few people that have ran some good times (with an m6) just by slipping the clutch instead of shocking the drivetrain with a clutch dump.
Look at the automatics who run 11s and 10s on the stock 10 bolt. What's the difference? They don't shock the rear!
However, I will agree with everyone else on this. Upgrading the stock rear is pointless. Maybe get a used cover or something cheap and easy to beef it up a little. That's about it. There are too many weak points on this rear to make it worth upgrading.
