Default windshield replacement

What would be considered a fair price for new glass and install on a F-bod? If anyone has had it done what have you paid?

I've never paid for one because my insurance always covers the bill 100%. You should check your policy, you may be the same. Broken windshields are a big safety issue, so companies usually cover them separately with different rules than other parts of the car.

On a related note, you should also factor in the cost of the weatherstripping, which really should be replaced at the same time. Not replacing it will invite leaks. Not sure on the overall price myself.
Best of luck.

The new window will have the weatherstripping already applied, at least it did when I had mine replaced a few months ago by safelite. Insurance paid for it so not sure on the cost.

Safelite quoted me $241.95 for zipcode 46236. That was for a 98 Camaro with T-Tops, no insurance claim.

i'm a lil late on this... but just to put it out there, i paid about 160 for my windshield, installed, everything included, and they came all the way to my house to install it for me. Now when i called the same place later for a t-top replacement, that was well over 300... i thought that was weird.

And by the way, let them know if you do have t-tops. Apparently it makes a difference

Do you mean you were trying to replace the t-top glass or the windshield on a t-top car and they quoted you $300? I can see the t-top glass costing more than the windshield bc its not a standard part.

As far as the windshield price, I got one replaced on a Yukon for $200 (insurance later reimbursed me for it), but I've heard other ppl say they paid $300-400.

I got Lucky and found one in pristine condition($60) at a junkyard and the people installed it for free. I guess they were happy to get rid of a camaro windshield, not many fbodies in my area, let alone the ones that need a windshield.

They did a terrible job, so i had another shop install it for $40. No leaks or anything and this was on a convertible just in case if its different.

Also look on look on craigslist , 'tech's classifieds(if you are close to seller), junkyards.

Did it sit for atleast one hour before it was driven? The urithanes have a one hour safe driveaway time.

The windshield moldings are different for t-top cars vs. hardtop cars.

Anyone who had a new windshield installed have distortion in the glass? I had mine replaced with the best glass available so they claim Pilkington brand but there is terrible bands of distortion. After driving a few miles it really messes with your eyes. The factory glass was not like this.
