Default how are we sposed to drive?

ok so i will come and and say that i am 18 with a gxp may not treat the car the best at times but i wouldnt say i bag the car

My driving style:
-keep to the speed limit, easy starts and stops about 50% percent of the time
- everytime i take it out i like to put the pedel to the floor at least once when safe
-i did drag the car in the eighth mile probly about 5 runs down the track
-the odd street race maybe 2 a month strait line
-have maxed the car out about twice since i got it almost a year ago
- all numbers are approximate

so i work at my local gm dealer as a car detailer on the weekends(still in grade 12) so i know most of the people there i have had one tranny replaced on warrenty and the new one is almost dead.

my question is do i bag or abuse my car?
would they build a performance devision car with 300 horse for grandma to drive to the hair salon?
how do you guys drive thease cars?
it is me or the tranny?

Its a mix of both, the tranny is pretty weak, and little abuse will go a long way. Sadly.

Transmissions don't like heat. Unfortunately, a FWD configuration is not optimal for heat loss.

Advise a large transmission cooler and aluminum pan...

I like to beat on the car sometimes like everyone else does, but recently my transmission has been not up to the task so I am more inclined to cruise.

I'm a pretty young guy too, and I don't want to come off sounding overly righteous, but I learned at a young age thats its just better to relax behind the wheel than be bookin' 24/7.

You have to remember that while our cars can masquerade as performance full size sedans and coupes, FWD does not make a performance car.

Get yourself the above mentioned plus a shift kit (transgo).

X2 on the tranny cooler. I wouldn't drive ANY car without adding one.

Question on the trans cooler: Will that void the warranty? I would like to do a shift kit and a cooler but if that will sacrifice my warranty, then I'll just hope it dies before 100k. I have 55k on it now.

The cooler won't void the warranty unless you do a crappy install and lose all your fluid and the tranny blows up!

That's what I figured. What are they gonna tell you your trans is running too cold and that's why it failed? What about the shift kit? Would they even know one was in there if it was ever disassembled?

Take the cooler off when you go to the dealer, problem solved...

I've long since stopped worrying about warranty issues.

A good tech might be able to pickup on a shift kit, if he's looking for it.

I prefer the stacked plate types like the B&M SuperCooler line. You get more cooling out of a smaller area with less pressure drop. They also automatically bypass when it's too cold.

You can always pull the shift kit too.
