Default hey guys newb checking in.

hey everyone the names chris, my wife and i just picked up a white 2006 pontiac grand prix gxp (mainly her car lol) fully loaded, had to take a 2 hour trip to get the car, but boy was it worth it. the car is 100% stock except for tint which we just got done. have been doing a lot of reading and searching in this section, and im thinking these mods in order:

1.hogan or wbodystore 3 inch catless downpipe (not worried about emissions in florida).
2.electronic cutout 3 inch (rest of the exhaust will be stock for now)
3.k&n intake or jmb performance intake from wbody store (which one is a better buy?)
4.then most likely hp tuners dyno tune...(my buddy has a hp tuner already just have to buy the credits to use it)

what do you guys think; good order lol, im guessing i should pick up what maybe 20whp from all that.

thanks for any additional info guys, im sure my wife will be making a account on her tomorrow as she is very excited about owning her first v8, pictures to come..

Welcome, may I suggest headers, there's a group buy going on now, from $960 to $599. If you want to read in thorley header update, I'm sure someone on here will post the link on here, I'm on my BlackBerry.

Thanks for the welcome guys I am posting from my android phone, and yes I have been following the header thread, while that is a good deal, still a big chunk of money I don't have right now especially since I'm trying to save up to put a down payment on a g8, however the gxp will be getting dyno tuned via hp tuners on April 6th , trying hard to get a downpipe and intake on before then or maybe just dp and cutout. ?

1. Don't believe you will be able to find a cat-less downpipe, so the point it moot. If you can (and of course, it makes your car illegal to use in a non-off road/racing application, it is a huge help to net power output.

2. Three inch cut-out might be a bit hard to fit to the exhaust system as it is not that big, but more power to ya if you can make it work!

3. Neither. The intake is not your bottleneck.

4. HP tuner for the win!

Haha nice thanks for the input, I believe w body store still has the catless downpipe?...also do the intakes for these cars do nothing, or at least nothing noticeable? ?? And yes hp tuners is the way to go for any Gmail I think. ...as far as the cutout, do you think I could mount it right after the down pipe

I'll have a catless downpipe for sale soon with an 0'2 bung so you can do some wideband tuning if you'd like or you can just plug it. I had Hogan add one to mine and I still have my rear O'2 sensor in it so there is a place to put it. I just deleted the P-0420 code that having no cat will throw. You can do that too if you are getting a HP Tune at some point.

Oh, and welcome to the boards. This is a cool one...

fenderwell intake if you want serious gains in HP. the K&N look nice but are not as good as what your getting outside of the engine bay..
go 2.5" cutout..3" is not worth it unless you upgrade to an all 3" pipe running down the car.

ANd I also have a 2.5" electronic cutout for sale if I get the right price for it.. Just need the dump pipe.

Well I was gonna do the 3inch cutout since the Hogan dp is 3 inch as well and the cutout is gonna be welded in right after the downpipe. Also what's a good fenderwell the jmb from w body store (same fenderwell that's also used on the l67 )

I use an Intense Racing one which I bought off a member here a few years ago for $60.00. Their new ones are $100.00 and work pretty good. It isn't the prettiest one out there but work just as good as anything else. I am all about saving money. lol...
