Default 6speed and Slicks how do you launch

Ive been searching and havent really came up with any good ideas. The basics about my car are.

9inch, full spool, 390 gears

cam'd ls1

150 shot no window switch or electronics

et streets, 28x11.50x16

tick master cylinder,ls7 clutch

I am going to the track friday and wanting to knows how you guys are launching or how you would with this set up.

Are you just dumping it if so what rpm?

Or are you sidestepping kinda feathiring it

5000 and let her go and hold on lol.... i always came out at 5500 and a quick release ...i ran an average of 1.50 60's when i was a 6spd , get a 2 step though it will help a great deal in consistency

I had my two step set for 6k , pull up pre-stage, then stage watch for the first yellow, floor the car wait for the last yellow to light up and dump the clutch I was cutting low 1.7s but my clutch (JUNK Ram HD) was slipping and then burnt up.

I would get a window switch, to be safe, I see you say no electronics, What are you using to pull timing out of the car????? If you do not pull any timing on a 150 shot you better bring a trailer.

I have nothing pulling timing as of yet, the guy who does the tuning on it says its got 25degrees of timing and something about 19 is the lowest. I plan on getting something that has a timing tuner built in here pretty soon. Ive had spray on the car since i got it and sprayed it a handful of times with no problems exactly how it is now.

Nitrous pass should i launch at a lower rpm off the line with it or just wait til 2nd to activate it?

I love this question when people ask me at the track. I just like seeing their jaws drop when I tell them. My car is a cam only car with a 9", spool, and 4.30s. I leave off a 2-step at around 6500-6700 (depending on track conditions) and just dump it and hold on. Last year I cut a best of 1.53 and ran consistant 1.53-1.56. I'll be installing a drag bar this year and cutting some more weight out of the car so I plan on mid to high 1.4s. With the clutch you have I'd start at around 5000-5500 and see what happens. I'm not sure if your LS7 will like hard launches.

Start at 30#, launch it and see what happens. If you are just lighting the tires up, start pulling some air. I made the mistake of just airing down to 18#, dumping it at 5.5K RPM and the thing just bogged down. Just gotta play with it to see what works for your car and the track conditions.

Same as dumping it man. The reference means that you have your foot on the clutch and pushed all the way down and you "slide" your foot off the clutch and let it go.

sidestep= push clutch in, rev it up, step your left foot to the side and let the spring pressure force the pedal out on its own. (this is so your foot has no possibility of slowing down the pedal release) sounds like you have the tire and rear for a tough launch, but the clutch will hate you. you can always do a really quick slip.

That LS7 is only going to last with 1 or 2 of those launches. Especially with burnouts in the box too. Might be time for a Monster or something of that sort.
