Default 70's formula steering wheel

I'm looking to put a 78 formula wheel in my bird to replace the stock one, any idea on what would be needed? I have a good wheel just looking for mounting tips or any issues I may run into.

Thanks

You might be able to use the 78-compatible upper shaft from the steering column. I'm not even sure if it'll fit. You may be able to re-spline the mounting point on the wheel itself to accept the 4th gen steering shaft splines...

What do you mean by 78 compatible upper shaft? Take the shaft out of a 78 column and put it in mine?

Yeah, but I don't even know if that's possible...

wonder if it wouldnt be easier to get an aftermarket wheel hub (ie grant/momo) and get the 78 wheel drilled to fit

yeah i have thought about this also when i had my formula but i think i would be a lot of work and might not flow to well with the rest of the 4th gen car ya kno?

but you can try to talk to momo or somone to see if they can get you one or maybe a good machinest could pull it off.

gl and pic!! i really miss that car and coolest stearing wheel ever!!!

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BSP-31126/ what about something like this? Seems like all I'd have to do is figure out a horn system and drill and tap the adapter to match the wheels profile, I don't wana touch the wheel if possible being as it is a original, will if I must tho.
