Winch Mounts In Trailers?
How did you guys mount your winches in your enclosed trailers?
Are the cross beams strong enough? I figured 4,000lbs for my car (to be safe)
My winch is rated to 8,500lbs and 17,000lbs when using a pulley.

The one I have in my trailer, is mounted to the floor on a steel plate, that is bolted in thru the rails on the floor on one side, and another steel plate across the bottom so the plywood is sandwiched in between (on the front)
It's pretty strong... haven't tested it out yet but after inspection I can't see it being a problem

The plate that my winch is bolted to is welded to the frame rail, I should have been more clear on that. My winch is offset some, that's why the 2nd plate is under the floor, as it didn't line up exactly on the other plate. Not that it's a big deal, I don't expect to have any issues, the plate on top and bottom of the plywood is pretty big, bolts are way bigger then they needed to be and the fact that the upper plate is bolted to the plate welded to the frame should also add some more strength to that as well.

with my V Nose...I don't think I can put the winch right in the middle, might have to put it off to the side and run through a pulley that I can remove. I'll have to find a pulley strong enough, not some chinese POS

Unless the thing is in gear, it does not take much load to pull it in.
I installed the winch myself, and I mounted it right to the wood floor.
I did use fender washers, and I had no issues ever.
A backing plate would probably be smarter, I was in a hurry, as usual.
I have a ton of buddies that have the winch on the side, and they use a clip on pulley to the tie down.
A decent all metal pulley will be plenty, you really don't need some massive piece.
Good luck, you are going to love the new enclosed.

Thanks guys!!
Everday I walk out and see my enclosed I get a smile on my face!
Plan to get it all loaded up this weekend.
Now the "small" detail of getting the car back together and running again....I still have 2 weeks until opening day...that's plenty of time to put it together, run my nitrous, weight removal, 5 point, dash, switches, switch to an auto...on and on
Late nights to come!

I used some 1/8" plate about 9" square for the d-rings.
I might have been lazy with the winch, but I did not want my baby moving or coming loose.
Just a tip, use stainless. I used standard bolts and stainless washers & nuts.
4-5 years after I got it I was under there fixing some wiring that a flat tire ripped up and the bolts were nasty,
and the nuts were like new.
I keep my trailer in the garage, and very rarely got caught in the rain & they were still rusted up bad.

My enclosed came with 4 recessed d rings...I haven't looked to see if they are re-enforced....I would think they would have to be
But I'll definately re-enforce the D ring for the winch.

When I ordered my latest trailer, I ordered a winch plate and "rat hole" in the bottom of the front cabinet. I can pull my air compressor hose (spring loaded hose reel) or my winch cable & remote through it. I don't winch my car up or down, so, the winch stays there unused (hopefully). Only used it once to pull a friend's car up on it with a busted and locked rear end. I put some oil (not much) on the ramps, and the car slid up them easily.
My current winch is a 5000# Superwinch, which is overkill, but, after I sold my old trailer with a 3500# Superwinch, still usually overkill, the 5000# was on sale for the same price as the 3500#. Dave
